About this house rental

Welcome to our renovated 1896 bungalow, we envisioned a place where visitors could cozy up, stay a while and experience city living amidst the peacefulness of park life. We believe that art is meant to be shared so we designed the home to feature colorful pieces that convey happiness. The house has been freshly renovated and decorated with a mix of modern and vintage pieces. The house is within walking distance of the 250+ acre Riverview Park so wildlife and trail adventures await!

Neighborhood description
Explore the woods at nearby Riverview Park and discover many other city amenities that are close to the house. Created in 1894, the park predates the City of Allegheny’s annexation to the City of Pittsburgh in 1907. Formed largely from farmland, today’s Riverview Park is known for its dense woodlands and steep topography. The park’s extensive network of trails invites hikers, joggers, and the occasional horseback rider into the woods. The park is also home to the landmark Allegheny Observatory, a visitor’s center, a swimming pool and activities building, the natural beauty of the Mairdale watershed, and the popular two-mile Riverview Loop. Residents enjoy the park's pool, playground, ball field, shelters and summertime concerts and movies.

The home is in a residential neighborhood close to the local Carnegie library, several pizza/sub shops, and other unique eateries. The house is within driving distance of full-service grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, dry cleaners, gas stations, restaurants, bars, and other night life, however, all of these types of establishments are within one or two miles. Unique to the area is the local Bread Works for delicious artistry breads.

From the house you will be able to walk out the front door and down the street into the lower part of Riverview Park. There are an extensive choice of trails to choose from if you like to hike or mountain bike. The terrain is hilly with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is rich in wildlife so don't be surprised to see deer, possum, raccoons, turkeys, ground hogs and the occasional fox at night. The wildlife is very docile and are used to being around people. Please remember that although they are gentle, their personal space needs to be respected.

Getting around
There is plenty of free street parking out front. You can walk, Uber or bus to just about any of the main attractions as this home is just minutes to Downtown, PNC Park, Heinz Field, AGH, North Shore dining and activities. It is within walking distance of the bus line. It is a 10-12 Uber ride to the strip district, south side or PPG Paints Arena. Easy access to I-279 and the parkway. It is about 20 minutes to the airport, depending on time of day/traffic.

The space

**Parties and events are not permitted
** This is a non-smoking home. There is absolutely no smoking anywhere on the premises. Smoking can damage our art. If this rule is violated, you will be asked to vacate the premises immediately without a refund. If there is smoking in the house you will be charged an additional $250 cleaning fee.

Self check-in
Check yourself in with the smartlock.

Other things to note
There are absolutely no parties of events allowed at the house. This policy is strictly enforced. Unfortunately there have been three incidents of people hosting parties at the house in violation of our policy that were extremely distressing. The last guest had well over 100 people and the neighbors called the police. It is a quiet family neighborhood and I do not want to be known as a nuisance house in the neighborhood. After the last incident, the neighbor’s have a zero tolerance for parties and will contact the police. If you are interested in having a few friends visit you at the house please notify me but for insurance reasons and out of respect for my neighbors I must enforce this rule. I appreciate your understanding.

Just as advertised! Easy to get to the ball park from the property…pet friendly with a secure back yard. Pearl the cat is wonderful.

We just had a brief stay in Pittsburgh and this house was ideal for us. It was cute, clean, and well equipped, but most importantly for us it had a perfect yard for our dogs. We will stay again when we come to Pittsburgh

Clean and comfortable. I stayed here a few days while in Pittsburgh for work. It was convenient & quiet, and a fairly short trip into downtown/Oakland.

We had a fantastic stay. Our proxy host Pearl (cat) was so sweet. The house is adorable and very clean. We had absolutely no problems. Lisa was fantastic with answering each question. She made sure we had all of the information to make our stay almost like we were staying at home. She also made sure the ACs were on when we got there and information about turning the heat on if needed since it was pretty cold in Pittsburgh for this time of year. I would love to come back for longer and possibly bring my pup next time. I unfortunately did not take pictures of the house. I did take plently of the welcome host. Pearl does not live in the house, but she is welcome if you are willing. She is the sweetest soul.

Location not in the best area. As we arrived in the neighborhood, it looked very rundown, and we did not feel comfortable staying here and ended up cutting our losses and getting a hotel. Communication from the owner was good prior to arrival.

We arrived late around 12:30 am. It was dark, the directions got us there but I was really not sure about the neighborhood as it was a little sketchy. When I got into the house, and realized there wasn’t a bathroom upstairs near the bedroom, I opted to sleep on the couch in the living room because I have minor mobility issues and the steps are steep. I was concerned about falling down them at night. At approximately 3 am I heard what sounded like gunshots in the neighborhood and I couldn’t sleep because of it. I searched for a hotel nearby and we left after only being there for 8 hrs out of a two day stay. I didn’t ask the owner for a refund and I just cut my losses for my own safety and comfort. And my trip was almost a year ago so I’m not sure why I’m just now being asked to review. The owner was responsive and the home was beautiful on the inside but because of the location and the overall dislike of Pittsburgh, would not return again. Not the owners fault, just not my cup of tea!
