About this campground/ rv resort rental

Bold Coast Camp is a quiet site on the village hill. This glamping gem is in walking distance to restaurants, passenger ferry, art galleries, shops, library, bank, post, farmers market and everyday provisions. Bike rental a few meters away from Bold Coast Camp can extend your travel through the village of Winter Harbor along coastal routes through Grindstone Neck, through the national park, and over to Prospect Harbor.

We are a 5 minute drive to the entrance of the Schoodic Loop of Acadia NP. A free, seasonal bus (search Island Explorer bus for schedule) picks up nearby and carries you about town and into the national park (entrance is less than a mile away). We are a 45 minute drive to Mount Desert Island/Bar Harbor. There is also a seasonal ferry within walking distance (about 5 minute walk) that takes you across Frenchman's Bay to Bar Harbor in 45 minutes. (May need a reservation for the ferry) It's a beautiful boat ride on a sunny day and you can often see porpoise and a variety of sea birds. The ferry generally runs into September. In Bar Harbor, you can hop on a free bus that will take you to Acadia and around town.

After a great day outdoors, return to the peaceful 5 meter bell tent, plenty of Berkey-filtered fresh water for drinking and clean, solar heated water for bathing. There is a Solo stove with plenty of kindling and a small bit of wood to start your evening (for long burns into the night please bring a roll of roadside camp wood). There is also a propane gas pit with comfortable chairs; a perfect setting for dark sky stargazing while wrapped in a cozy outside blanket. The tent sleeps two with a comfortable queen mattress made up with beautiful clean linens, outfitted for weather considerations and maximum comfort. A twin futon can be dressed as well for a third guest, or upon request. The portable toilet is close by, serviced weekly and for Bold Coast Camp guests only.

Amenities include:
Soft towels, complimentary bar soap from local Prospect Harbor Soap Company provided. Small library, cards, games. Small courtesy of tea, coffee bags and cocoa to start your morning. There is a Coleman stove, (small propane canister needed), tea kettle, cups, spoons, napkins. Available ice cooler. Picnic Basket/cooler bag with bread board, knife, plates, wine glasses, forks, napkins, tablecloth, and tea towels. Basket of first aid needs.

Within the tent, please find our camp catalog with local events, restaurants, rentals, boat trips, and more for your convenience. There are recycle and disposal barrels beside the garage with extra bags for your convenience when disposing of waste. The extra wrap will keep an invitation for critters low.

I would love to welcome you to spend a few evenings under the stars; waking to early birds songs, fog horns, and bells, seagulls and eagles circling and sea breezes filling your senses. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay at Bold Coast Camp.

Had a nice stay. Will return once the shower system works better.

Great location for walking to restaurants or quick access to Schoodic Peninsula and all its beauty! Check-in was easy, bed super comfortable. Gas fire pit and solo stove for wood camp fires. Back corner of backyard, but felt private. Lovely spot! The shower bags got hot in the sun, but there wasn’t a place high enough to hang them to actually take a shower. One small improvement would be to rig a pulley system to get the shower bag up near head level! Also, the solar patio lights were nice, but we couldn’t figure out how to turn them off!

We absolutely loved staying in the tent! Every necessity was thought of, and the location was perfect for our weekend getaway hiking Acadia! Our host, Margaret, was super accommodating and it was very clear that she cared about how comfortable we were.

Preface that I and my partner have stayed in “rustic” conditions before; lack of running water/electricity, compost toilet, hand drawn showers, etc, but the property was a bit more public than pictures and listing describes in our opinion. We left the first night we arrived as we didn’t feel we were nearly as private or secluded as the description led us to believe. Good: The yurt itself was very nicely setup and furnished; it looks like the pictures and all amenities are as described. We really liked it to be honest and would have loved to stay there. Host was quick to message with further details and an update to amenities that wasn't in the listing (nice!) Bad: There was one major issue with this property being the privacy of it and the misleading description of it. Though it may be on private property, it’s easily viewable from two homes on the land immediately adjacent even with the 2 separated privacy fences placed nearby. I’m talking less than 100 feet to two private homes (although one may technically be a business). Both of these houses could easily see into the space from their second story windows if not from the first story. Look up the address in google street view before committing. It initially places you by brush but head west to find the mailbox, the yurt is viewable from the road. Overall the general setup of the yurt and amenities is lovely and could be a romantic vacation even; but we didn’t want to spend our time in Acadia camping in a back yard.
