About this cottage rental
Nestled high on the bank of the Beautiful Elk River, there lies a 1,500 sq. ft. Hobbit Retreat carved into the hillside amid the Poplar trees. Enjoy spectacular views of the Elk River and be mesmerized by the white noise as it cascades over the bus-size boulders below the house. You can almost fish for the fabled rainbow trout from the living room or either bedroom, but there are plenty of good spots on the bank below. When the fair winds blow enjoy a real fireplace inside or on the covered outdoor living area, complete with a built-in gas grill, sink and 50" TV. Both bedrooms and foyer have 50" Samsung smart TVs and the living room's is 65". The play loft has a 40" Samsung smart TV with a PS4. The kitchen is stocked with everything needed for a banquet: a gourmet Zline range, double door fridge, wine (or beer) fridge, slow cooker, presto pot, toaster oven, programable coffee maker, and all the dishes. Or choose to cook outside on the built-in Bull-Stallion gas grill.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Very quiet and comfortable accommodations. Our host was very helpful and so kind. Very easy to get to Banner Elk and close to Boone and Linville. Would highly recommend!

The Hobbit House is truly unique. The decor and furnishings are very nice, as well as he outdoor area. The river is more of a creek, but overall we really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely return.

The house was cozy and had what we needed. It wasn’t the cleanest when we arrived so I spent about 15-20 minutes taking care of stuff but overall it was ok.
The heat wasn’t even in all of the house. The bedroom with the door shut got really really hot while the rest of the house was cooler.
The beds were fine. Bathrooms were good. The water leaks a little out into the floor when showering.
Our kids loved the river.
