Vacation on Great Cranberry Island

This well-built family home is a rusticators dream. Its old-world craftsmanship along with many original features, remind us and are a conduit for those summer days of yore, days that last forever, air thick with with possibility, and filling our lungs and spirit with the joys of Acadian island living The house was perfectly scaled for our family of 4 and could work for 5 and 6 (7 and 8 on the sleeping sofa downstairs). The full bath up and shower and toilet down left us with no bathroom conflicts. The eat in kitchen is actually larger than the photos reveal, the alcove has an amazing vintage cast iron sink and wood countered pantry area while the main room has an original wood cook stove, modern electric stove, kitchen table, and frig. There is plenty of living space: a large dining room which is also where we perpetually had a puzzle in development, a large living room, and sunroom with couch for hanging out and sorting through the days sea-glass finds. There is laundry in the basement which we often used, plenty of games and puzzles, and the front porch is large and with just enough privacy, buffered from the street by a large front lawn, which was perfect for our croquet games. The houses location feels nicely connected to the islands amenities: the various lanes and hiking trails to beaches, island market, main dock, library, community center, museum, shop, tennis court. An eclectic comfortable and easy place to stay for a fulfilling Maine island experience!

Everything was great, Cranberry was very relaxing and friendly. House was perfect.

We had a fabulous week on Great Cranberry, our first time back in many years. The Westphal house was the perfect place for our stay - convenient, cozy and well set up for all we needed and more. Brendan was great. He even delivered us a car to come and go from the dock on Our arrival and departure days. Would definitely stay again

I had a wonderful stay at this home. The views are wonderful, the house is equipped with everything you need and is kept very clean and tidy. My favorite thing during this stay was the fantastic porch. It's a great place just to sit and look at the water or read...they have a diverse array of books with every genre covered). The owners are very responsive and always helpful.
