About this house rental
This gorgeous cedar shake cabin will make you feel like you have stepped into the mountains. With all wood interior this cabin sleeps 10+ with its 3 bedrooms and upstairs loft. Enjoy the 2 large covered porches that overlook the year round water and grassy flat lot. Whether you are enjoying a glass of wine or cup of coffee, the upstairs porch bed swing and sound of the water will wash all of your cares away. Upstairs Queen Bedroom has attached bath and downstairs basement has 2 Queen bedrooms with shared bath. Though the inside den and kitchen are small you will want to enjoy all of your time on the large covered porches or private dock. Please note that like most lake homes this home is 15 minutes down a dirt road and 30 minutes from gas and grocery. A list of basic necessities will be provided as well as things to make sure you pick up will be given. It is nestled in the middle of a large hunting property and Bankhead Forest so sit back and enjoy the ride and look out for deer and turkey:) This home also provides 2 double kayaks, triple kayak as well as a peddle boat and corn hole. There is also a private boat launch on this property but can only be used in the spring/summer due to the water levels of Smith Lake. There is year round water but of course like all Smith Lake properties the water is down significantly in the fall/winter. Boat launch in summer is ideal for small ski boats and fishing boats. Large pontoon boats would need to use Clear Creek or Duncan Marina to launch. This home is less than 5 minutes by boat to Clear Creek. If you are looking for a day of adventure or a hiking enthusiast this home is not far from the Sipsey Wilderness and the amazing waterfalls and hiking trails for all levels.

The cabin is very cute. Someone with children this is great! It is not secluded. It has a neighbor within 20 feet of you and the porches are facing each other. If you like privacy, it’s not the place. The place is just cute with plenty to do. But the house next door that close is a deal breaker for privacy.

4 nights was perfect getaway! Property is very peaceful (especially in late October) with no one else around. Road in is long and dusty so be prepared to dust off or keep belongings in the vehicle. Recommend a SUV or truck s the last little stretch of road is rough.

Pro’s: 1-Waaay out away from everything. There are other houses nearby, one very close, but overall we felt very secluded. Obviously, the negative to this is that you can’t just make a quick trip to the store. 2-Right on the water! 3-cozy, but maybe a little too small if you go over 8 people. 4-the porches!! 5-the fish were biting :) 6-easy check-in and check-out 7-great host with quick communication! 8-well stocked kitchen supplies to cook and supplement the food we brought. 9-kayaks and fishing poles provided
Con’s: 1-the roads. If you have a small/low vehicle, it will be hard to make it. You need a truck or SUV. 2-the spiders. The porches are full of spiders, spider webs, etc. A simple cleaning with a brush/broom every week would go a long way to helping this. 3-the loft. Super cute, but all beds. No usable space, and NO privacy. 4-not handicap friendly. 5-need downstairs TV’s to be smart TV’s
That is just info I thought would be usable if you are considering staying here. We had a GREAT time and would definitely consider staying here again if we go back to Smith Lake (which is beautiful!).

The rustic cabin is in a remote area with an amazing view and access to the lake. It is not conducive to individuals with limited mobility. The access road is very challenging especially for cars, it’s best suited for SUVs or trucks. The dock and fire pit made our stay even more enjoyable.
