RECOMMENDATIONS AND SOME THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA
- Recommendation- For top eateries and attraction we recommend booking early as many places get sold out. Restaurants are especially difficult as this area has a shortage of wait-staff.
- Harper Brothers- They are across the street. They also have a fantastic store that serves Starbucks coffee and desserts.
- See Amazing Views and/or Ride a Horse- The Harp Brothers also have the Hawk Skylift. Included at the top is a viewing deck with free water, Moonpies (a common theme), rocking chairs and games. You can also ride a horse...at the bottom of course. Both are located at the red barn behind their large store.
- Do a Tennessee Moonshine tasting session at the Tennessee Shine Co- Only 3 minutes away. Moonshine and Moonpies.
- Axe throwing and Beer? What could go wrong? These are two highly rated Axe throwing places that both also serve craft beer and food. They are both in Pigeon Forge. Country Road Axe Co or Axe House
- Drive Through the Smoky Mountain Park. The entrance is only 8 minutes away.
- Drive Through Cades Cove Scenic Loop. It is 25 minutes away and 11 miles long with amazing views. Try to go early as it does get crowded.
- See a Waterfall- Laurel Water fall is 10 minutes away. A short hike gets you to the waterfall.
- Go Rafting- Townsend has several rafting companies. 9 minutes away. River Rat Rafting is the closest but there are many good ones.
- See a Smoky Mountain "top 10 View"- Look Rock is 30 minutes away.
- Get some good Southern Cooking- Elvira's Southern Cafe- Across the street offering Southern eats like pork chops & hamburger steak.
- More Food- If you head towards Pigeon Forge and go just past the Hillbilly Cafe, they set-up some excellent food trucks (typically Weekend Only).
- Zip Lining- Want to try? It's only 10 minutes away at Wears Valley Ziplining. If you're willing to travel a bit further try the highly rated ClimbWorks.

The property was nice, and we had a great stay!

This was a week long vacation to celebrate my daughter‘s 40th birthday, and explore the Smoky Mountains. The cabin is the perfect location for that! The hot tub was a wonderful way to end our days after hiking. The only drawback for us was the busy road at the bottom of the hill. There is quite a bit of traffic, so enjoying morning coffee on the porch wasn’t as peaceful as we had hoped. To add to that, we just so happened to plan our trip during the Bronco gathering… I’ll let you do that math. haha There were a few minor issues, but the owner promptly addressed them as well as he was able. It seems that carpenter bees are a known nuisance in the area. The locals are used to ignoring them, but I was definitely more hesitant to be around them. All in all, we enjoyed our time there and would stay again if the opportunity arises.

We stayed here for a wedding we attended in Maryville. Located 30 minutes from Pigeon Forge and 30 minutes from Maryville. So it worked great for us! We ate breakfast at Elvira's Cafe, and it was great. We also visited the antique stores and shops located on Wears Valley Road. We had a great view for sunsets and coffee from the porch. Communication with the owner so quick and responsive! We would stay here again!

Overall the stay was nice - my only recommendations are that the floors weren’t really clean, my children’s feet were black after a bath and walking around the cabin. There was only one hand soap and it was upstairs and I think there was poison oak/ivy growing on one post outside on deck with two small children that would have easily ruined the trip. Upon arriving the driveway was very hard to get into coming from Pigeon Forge area in a bigger sized truck, and once we arrived there were guests in the other cabin so parking was difficult to maneuver around that first night. The other guests were nice, just suggested the driveway be widen out more. These are just suggestions to be made, the overall stay was nice and described as listed.
