About this house rental

Historic one-room schoolhouse built in 1895 restored and ready for a quiet romantic retreat! Situated in the country surrounded by over 150 acres of cropland! Watch a gorgeous sunrise or sunset; marvel at the mesmerizing firefly dance over the fields at dusk. Inside, you will have the entire schoolhouse and private screened back porch to yourselves. Step back in time and imagine the hustle and bustle of children attending this schoolhouse in the 1900's! The one-room school room is open-concept where you will find a luxurious king size bed and a sitting area for snuggling and a large 65" Smart TV with Roku. Also, you will find a game table and chairs, a desk/chair (free WiFi) and a beautiful antique backlit bar (byob!) Upstairs is our tranquility room complete with aromatherapy, soothing water fountain and sound machine to create your personal mood while treating your partner to a massage on our professional grade massage table! Also on this level you will find a full bath with tub/shower combination. Back downstairs, you will find the kitchen and screened back porch with an additional Roku TV (In season). The kitchen has an electric apartment-sized stove/oven, toaster, blender and microwave. There is a single serve coffee maker (some pods are provided). There will be a propane gas grill for your use in season (May through September). A list of local eateries, wineries, breweries and food delivery options will be available in the home.

PLEASE NOTE: Property is not handicapped accessible or suitable for children or pets. The screened back porch, kitchen and half bath are ground level but you will need to navigate four stairs upward into the one-room school room and an additional flight of stairs to the loft/tranquility room and full bath. This home sleeps two only.

NOTE: An outdoor only "door cam" security camera is in use that covers the parking lot and outdoor entrances.

We DO NOT have provisions for EV car charging at this time.

My husband LOVES old and unusual buildings. He said this was the favorite one I've found for our travels. The schoolhouse was comfortable, beautiful, and full of interesting memorabilia. It does have a few steps inside, but was nicely equipped with motion nightlights, so wasn't a problem when I needed to get up during the night. Even though we had only a one-night stay, we loved it!

We toured the Shawshank prison/movie set prior to arriving at this nifty destination.Neat property, secluded, unique, different.Owners very good with communication. Entry & exit was simple.Property very clean, comfy, relaxing. Finding the silverware was challenging (we did not look in the pantry cupboard until the morning of our departure).We did use the massage table/area upstairs. I brought some massage lotions, some towels and some candles. With the small water fountain & diffuser it was pretty neat set up & very relaxing area for us to massage each other.Bed was soft & comfy too!!

This was a great and very clean place! The owners have carefully created a special and unique escape from the ordinary. The bed was fabulously comfortable, and the spa room with a massage table was an extra bonus, with additional calming touches of a water feature and an essential oil diffuser. Enjoying the view from the chairs in the peaceful back yard was especially tranquil and memorable. We highly recommend the schoolhouse for your next excursion!

We stayed two nights here, it was very easy to find and was absolutely stunning! Very spacious for the two of us. Everything was very clean and neat and even appropriately decorated with antiques and school themed pictures and such. Bed was super cozy, there were two bathrooms (one half, one full) so both of us could get ready at the same time. It was a very safe area and not too far away from the Reformatory or the Gill house which is what we came to visit. Definitely recommend and would stay here again.

This school house was just perfect. Walked inside and the lights were on which is so nice to walk into a space that already feels Welcoming. Next we really appreciated was that all the switches were labeled. No guess work here. The space was so clean and beautifully decorated. We also appreciated that the couch and bed were very comfortable. Also they had good water pressure. The communication with host was spot on any questions were answered right away. They made check in and out very easy. We really loved our stay here and highly recommend this property!!!! Look forward to staying here in future. Maybe next time it wont rain the whole time and we can catch a beautiful sunset.

Absolutely amazing property! Grateful to the owners who saw the beauty and potential in this schoolhouse building. The decor, school books, and literature added charm and knowledge to what this building once was. Updating it to allow for modern comforts yet preserving the feel of days gone past. Loved every minute of our stay. We definitely want to return in the fall so we can enjoy the outdoors and 3 season space. The cleanliness was spot on!! Cozy and inviting from the minute you opened the door. The only thing I wish we could see is pictures of it back in the day and what it looked like when you acquired it.

This schoolhouse was the perfect place to get away. It's a very unique place! The owners attention to every detail is amazing. It place was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the rooms smelled good with the soy candles in the different rooms ( and the candles weren't even lit). We visited the Shawshank Trail which was about 10-15 minutes away. The whole weekend was like taking a trip back in time. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique experience.

I am not one to take the time to type these reviews but this was such a surprise, i have to. I stumbled across this listing when looking for something special but different for my wife and I to celebrate our 39 years together and 33 years as husband and wife. As beautiful as the pictures are, it does not do it justice. It is spectacular. Every detail was perfect. It was spotless, beyond clean, I had some concern about the age and wondered if it would smell old and musky. Not even close. Smelled clean and fresh, perfect. The bed and the sheets were amazing, The main room set up is just so welcoming and cozy. While we had activities during the, both of said we could not wait to get back to the School House. Communication with the owners when planning this surprise for my wife was perfect. I could go on and on but if you are reading this and want a stay you will talk about for years, give the School House a shot. You will not be disappointed.
