Wintberg Tropical Villas #1

I love the house and the area in was very quiet and relaxing i didn't like the drive way much better other than that ill go back again my host was awsome!

Best vacation ever! Beautiful view awesome Villa! Everything you need and just up the hill from Magens Bay Beach. Hist was wonderful and very informative of local activities and events. Will definitely stay here again.

We are St. Thomas regulars at this point - our seventh trip down, but first time getting away from the resort/condo accommodations and staying at a villa in the hills. What a great decision to do so! Wintberg Tropical Villas checked all of our boxes - a lovely property with breezes and a pool (which I swam in every day - not too cold and just the right size for a small multi-unit villa). I loved having a private yard and a grill associated with our unit. We prefer to cook when we travel and clearly there was a lot of attention paid to the kitchen in the unit - we were not lacking for anything. We only ran the a/c at night when we slept, fans and open windows and doors were great during the day (prepare for mosquitos and no-see-ums at night by closing the doors as dusk approaches!). The shower water temperature got nice and warm after letting it run a little at first. I highly recommend renting a car if staying here as you are living the villa life, so there is not a lot within walking distance. So, if you just intend to relax away from it all and take each day as it comes, Wintberg Tropical Villas is a lovely choice. Or plan a lot, but rent a car if you do so. Most importantly, Alvin (owner) and Wonda (manager) were wonderful. They were prompt in answering any questions and attending to any needs. In fact, the coconuts on the property were ripe for the cutting and we were gifted with fresh coconuts/water. It was the best I ever had. Loved our stay.

We can celebrate something without it being meant for us, right? Everyone has different preferences. Truth is, my host was great, and my property manager was wonderful, but my expectations were a little different than reality. There was great communication throughout my experience, from booking to arrival. I even got weather updates for the day so I could make educated plans for the day. I did get the location of the unit an hour before check in, but I was on airport wifi when that happened. By the time I had the rental car, I didn't have wifi/data access anymore so it made locating the property almost impossible without it. Thankfully the property manager answered my call and resent the directions but was also willing to meet me in the closest public space and escort me. (Which was very nice). I did question the safety of the area I was getting lost in though. I managed to locate the property, but if you plan on renting a car, the smaller the better. (All over the island- just some insight.) I was anxious driving up the steep driveway and parking in my assigned spot because I was nervous I would hit a privacy wall or two. To touch on my expectations, I thought each balcony was one rental. While I only had experienced my unit, my observation was there were two units per balcony. Also, I anticipated the pool to be a a standard size pool. It was not. I(The pool and view during the sunset was amazing, and the lights outdoors were beautiful). Depending on the number of guests in a party who might be trying to enjoy to pool at the same time, I think it could either get real friendly, or real awkward quickly. We were very cognizant of the quiet hours requested. The store down the hill played music on Sunday night past midnight, which I think I read another reviewer experienced. While it was a nice unit, and my interactions with my host and pm were above my expectations, I felt that I was in an area that was less accustomed to visitors and less tolerant. Which makes sense, we were in a residential area, but was just something I didn't anticipate. If you want something very quiet and secluded, this is a great place, but I realized our vibe is more touristy, people around, music at a bar and holding a drink I don't have to make myself. Pros: Communication, cleanliness, ran very professionally. Cons: Location, proximity to activities, driveway not for the faint of heart.
