Elbe River Landscape: Eco-Friendly Apartment with a Wood-Burning Stove and Garden

"Casa Creativa" is located in a 1,200 m² enchanting garden in the town of Bleckede, between Elbuferstrasse and the Elbe Bike Path. From here, you can set out on walks or bike rides through the Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve, enjoy the town’s cafes and bookstores, and sample the local cuisine in the evenings.

We purchased our more than 100-year-old half-timbered house, “Casa Creativa,” 20 years ago and have gradually renovated it using eco-friendly materials to support climate protection. Each apartment has a wood-burning stove, and the house also features a wood pellet central heating system. The walls are plastered with clay and painted in light, natural colors. In 2021, we installed hardwood flooring in the living room and refinished the old wood floor in the kitchen.

We have been renting out two vacation apartments since 2014. We welcome guests who appreciate our sustainable lifestyle and are looking for an inspiring, creative place for their vacation—a place where they can relax while enjoying the comforts of modern amenities.

Our large vacation apartment, “Milan,” is located on the first floor. The staircase is a bit steeper than in newer buildings. Two rooms with exposed timber beams were combined to create one large living area. Adjacent to this is the separate kitchen, which we equipped with new appliances in 2021. The two bedrooms adjoining the living area feature double beds with organic latex mattresses (new in 2024), which we make up with high-quality linens. The spacious bathroom, featuring a bathtub, shower, toilet, and washer-dryer, is accessible from both bedrooms.

Despite the central location, we’ve designed the organic garden surrounding the house to be close to nature and have set up seating areas next to the house and under the trees. The guest garden, with lounge chairs, a beach chair, and a swing bench under the trees, is shared by guests of both vacation rentals. Out here, however, you can hear the street.

The small town of Bleckede on the Elbe is slowly recovering from its remote location in the former border zone and is becoming increasingly popular for sustainable tourism as part of the biosphere reserve. The area is perfect for biking and hiking, photography, and relaxation. The Biosphaerium offers nature-based activities and cultural experiences at the castle, while cafés, restaurants, and a bookstore invite you to linger—some of which offer high-quality culinary delights.

The Elbe River is within walking distance. In Alt Garge, you’ll find a beautiful forest swimming area. Large, old forests include the Schieringer Forest (5 km) and the Göhrde (15 km). The towns of Hitzacker and Lüneburg are each about 25 km away, while the Wendland region with its circular villages and Hamburg are each about 50 km away.

Please note! Due to construction work involving a lengthy detour for traffic from Lüneburg via Bleckede to Dahlenburg, we are experiencing heavier traffic on the L222 in front of the house until approximately the end of June 2026!
