Wildschönau—Vacations in the diverse mountain world of Tyrol
Wildschönau is a vacation region in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is located in the district of Kufstein, has just under 4,300 residents, and welcomes visitors above the town of Wörgl in the Kitzbühel Alps. Nestled in a natural landscape that can certainly be described as wild and beautiful, it truly lives up to its name. In addition to the main town of Oberau, the villages of Niederau, Auffach, and Thierbach also invite visitors to enjoy a varied and active vacation. Farms, rustic huts, well-maintained hiking trails, and—last but not least—the charming mountain scenery characterize the landscape of the Wildschönau.
Attractions and sights in the Wildschönau vacation region:
Singles, couples, and families alike will find plenty to enjoy during a vacation in the Wildschönau, thanks to its impressive range of recreational, sporting, and cultural activities. One worthwhile destination, for example, is the Kundler Klamm, which serves as a natural link between the Wildschönau high valley and the Lower Inn Valley and gives visitors a closer look at the alpine mountain world. When embarking on long hikes, be sure to plan a detour or two, such as to the Markbachjoch Sculpture Park, the Lehenlahn Show Mine in Thierbach, or the Schönangeralm with its demonstration cheese dairy in Auffach.
