For adventure and activities, Thetford Forest is 9 miles, with designated walking and cycle routes for all abilities and picnic opportunities. Interesting places include Grimes Graves, a Neolithic flint mine, a preserved monastic site, enjoy a ride on the Bressingham Steam Railway, explore the steam collections and official Dad’s Army exhibition, Norfolk Tank Museum at Forncett St Peter, and the National Trust Oxburgh Hall is well worth a visit. The amazing North Norfolk coastline with excellent sandy beaches, coastal path, RSPB nature and bird reserves, and the Royal Sandringham Estate are an hours’ drive.
The city of Norwich, with many shops, two indoor shopping malls, a cathedral, theatre, castle museum, market square, cafés, restaurants and Bury St Edmunds, abbey ruins and famous Christmas market are 35 minutes’ drive. While Ipswich, with marina and historical town centre and Ely, with its magnificent cathedral, or even the university city of Cambridge for a punt along the River Cam passing through the university grounds, are all worth a visit. In the Norfolk Broads National Park, Wroxham, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads, is 26 miles away, with daily boat hire and river trips, shopping and waterside restaurants. A very relaxing short stay in a small although well presented property. Friendly local people, the local pub being the hub and meeting point for locals. Good food served with reasonably priced takeaways too. A short drive to shops and local attractions, overall, perfect for a short stay getaway.

The Bothy was exactly as we expected. Small, but very clean, neat and tidy. Perfect location for us as we wanted to visit some of the towns and cities in the area. Easy car parking, decent wi fi, same speed as we have at home, we never turned the TV on so I can't comment on that. Nice looking wood burner but we never used it as it didn't get cold. A few minor improvements would be a shower mat and rail to get in and out of the shower, I'm a not so nimble 73 year old, and an additional mirror for hair dryer use, not needed in my case! We gave up trying to work out the rubbish disposal and simply took the bag home as there was so little rubbish to get rid of. My tip, pack your luggage in a squishy case and store under the bed.

Compact, clean & quite well equipped.Suggestions: Pyrex dish with cover for heating food. Hook on bathroom door. Replace table with chest of drawers to store clothing.
