Host Kelli happens to be a co-owner of a large tour company with over 20 shore excursions throughout Alaska, mostly in Southeast Alaska. She offers a 10% discount on all tours offered by Alaska Travel Adventures to her vacation rental guests. Unfortunately, Alaska Travel Adventures doesn't currently offer any day tours in the area. If you are going on an Alaska cruise or are interested in RV travel, this offer may be of interest to you. Popular tours in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Sitka include whale watching, salmon bakes, river rafting, kayaking, canoe tours, boat tours, hiking, gold panning, private cars, Mendenhall Glacier tours, Jeep tours, and more., ask us for the details.
This is a cool place with some historic references. In 1998, Kelli bought the place to live in and considered painting over the Alaska-themed mural, but some of the Girdwood residents lobbied against it, including the librarian, who stated that it was her dog painted on the property. She never painted over the mural, and now it seems appropriate to keep it that way. The cabin was built in 1964, and it was raised in 1978 when a concrete slab was poured and a block foundation installed, creating a gift shop where tour buses would bring people on their way to and from the sites. Later the lower level housed "the bike shop". When the bike shop outgrew the space, it was converted into a two-bedroom dwelling unit. We may have cameras on the property.
