The Hatch is the heart of Tailwaters Lodge—a spacious 3,500 sq. ft. retreat perched a short 3-minute walk from the world-renowned South Holston River. Designed with larger groups in mind, this three-level lodge offers six bedrooms, two kitchens, and ample gathering space, making it the ideal choice for family reunions, corporate retreats, fly fishing groups, or private celebrations.
Guests can walk straight from the front door in waders to access over 500 feet of private river frontage or drive their vehicle down to the river. The Hatch is located approximately 400 yards from the river with the river wrapping around the property. Or set out with daypacks to explore scenic river trails and nearby portions of the Appalachian Trail. For racing fans, Bristol Motor Speedway is just 15 miles away, providing an exciting daytime adventure before returning to the tranquility of the mountains.
Inside, The Hatch is designed for connection and comfort—with two well-appointed kitchens, 2.5 baths, and a dining area that seats up to 24 guests. (Max 12 lodging guests at the Hatch) Two private entrances (front and rear) provide added flexibility, with the upper entrance reached via a scenic stone walkway and expansive 16' x 25' deck. Evenings invite storytelling around the outdoor firepit or relaxing beside the indoor gas log fireplace.
The Hatch is often used as the central hub for our hosted fly fishing experiences, team-building getaways, and curated group stays. Whether you're planning a multi-day fishing trip with friends, a wellness-focused offsite, or a family milestone gathering, Tailwaters Lodge offers turnkey solutions, local guide partnerships, and unforgettable riverside hospitality.
Complimentary amenities include coffee and filters for the drip coffee maker, a propane grill, two crates of seasoned firewood and kindling, high-speed 100mbps fiber Wi-Fi, and Hulu + Live TV for game nights or downtime. All of our group agreed that this was by the far the best large group accomodation we have rented. We have stayed in some really nice ones, but enjoyed the Hatch even more. None of us fish, so it was all about spending time together. There were sufficient walking trails, which required little to no driving, to get some exercise close to the house. There was plenty of room to spread out. The beds were quite comfortable, and the AC was more than sufficient in 90 degree weather. Showers were plenty hot and great water pressure. We couldn't believe how stocked the Hatch was with all the necessities. The fire pit area was wonderful, even though the weather kept us from enjoying it that much. The grill was top notch as was the main floor kitchen stove.Our only regret was that we didn't plan to stay more days than we did. Highly recommend the Hatch for your next big group outing.

The place was in beautiful location and it was quiet. The Host was very responsive to any questions we had.

Quite, well supplied & clean. Would definitely stay again. We had a total of 12 stay here and it worked out great. Host and everyone involved were helpful and friendly.
