Gengenbach, in the beautiful Black Forest, is a charming, romantic little half-timbered town. The historic old town, with its towers and gates, narrow alleys, and picturesque nooks and crannies, invites you to take a leisurely stroll. From Gengenbach, numerous biking and hiking trails lead you on a journey of discovery through nature. The hills surrounding Gengenbach are also ideal for mountain bike tours of all difficulty levels. Wine lovers will also find plenty to enjoy, as winemaking has a long tradition in Gengenbach. The sheltered vineyards and the mild climate allow winemakers to produce high-quality wines, which visitors are welcome to sample during wine testings.
During the Advent season, a visit to the old town is also well worth it, as Gengenbach’s town hall, with its 24 windows, is transformed into the world’s largest Advent calendar house.
