    The only thing I like about the hotel is the location, and it is just next to Melbourne Central, Emporium, and 10 mins walk to Queen Victoria Market. Having said that, I think I will never step into this hotel again. I was pre-warned of the sloppy hospitality in this country though, but never expected it to be so bad. I thought I could get a slightly better experience when I paid much more for a Premium High Floor Room. Sad to say, the experience was bad, the moment I stepped into my room. The moment I checked in, I found the room was very dusty, and the coffee machine had a layer of dust on it. I tried not to be too bothered with it. But after 2 days, the situation got bad; and I requested the room to be vacuumed, say to say; the coffee machine still has a layer of dust (see picture). Secondly, for my entire 7-day stay, they didn’t even top-up items in the beverage box. Next, to my horror, I saw a huge blood stain on the toilet paper, and the stain had penetrated into many layers of the toilet paper. I called them to change the entire toilet roll. When I wanted to hang my pants, I found the clips of both clothes hangers were damaged. At breakfast, I found the coffee cups full of stains. The restaurant manager (Crystal) appears to be friendly, but when my friend asked for the direction to the toilet, she guided him to the location, but the moment she turned around, I personally saw her mumble “Chinese bullocks”. (She may not know I am educated in England, and I understand what she meant, and she looked at me in a guilty face.) The swimming pool was under maintenance, so we had to go over to the next building to use the pool. It is such an inconvenience, not to mention that the pool is not heated and all 3 jacuzzis were spoilt. Well, as said, if location is your only consideration, this hotel location is good. All else, I hope I have given you an overview of the service standard of this hotel!

    Me and my wife stayed at voco Melbourne for 4 nights during our honeymoon. Everything was nice at first, apart from the fact that they let us take our luggage to the room by ourselves at check-in but that didn’t bother me as much as it did bother my wife. We enjoyed their breakfast and the room was very spacious and all. Everything went smoothly until the day of checkout! We asked for a late checkout and they said one hour is all we could do so leave by 12pm. We said fine and ordered a trolley at 11:30am to store our luggage at the reception and the receptionist came and took our luggage just as requested. We left the room without realizing that we left the case containing our passports and the cash on the bed, and went to the city for one last shopping spree. We then came back to the hotel to collect our luggage and ordered an uber to the airport, that was when we realized that we didn’t have our passports and rushed to the receptionist to let her know. The receptionist asked one of us to go up with her and my wife did as I took our luggage to the uber outside. My wife then came down with the case after checking that our passports were still there. She said that housekeeping was at the room and she put the case on the bedside table. But a little later before boarding our flight I did realize that the same case was missing all of the cash in there so we called the hotel immediately!! They said they would investigate it and advised us to send an email as well, which we did and received a response on the next day from the front office manager and the GM claiming that this was a serious allegation that requires police involvement but they would also investigate it further. Unfortunately they couldn’t find anything on the housekeeper and asked us to file a report from Victoria Police which I did but I kind of have a feeling that will not change anything and we won’t get our stolen money back.

    Unfortunately, my stay at voco Melbourne Central was disappointing, especially considering the price of over $270+ per night. The room was not as clean as expected. There was noticeable dust in the room and the carpet also appeared dusty. The TV was also not working properly, and we had to call a staff member to come up to the room to fix the issue. For a hotel charging $270+ per night, I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and room facilities. Overall, I don’t feel that the experience was worth the price I paid.
