Riad Dar Maya

Riad Dar Maya was a cosy cocoon in the heart of the bustling Medina. It was close to the best restaurants and interesting local shops. The in-house massages (by external masseuse) were very relaxing. We felt sad to leave the Riad on our last day.

Breakfast was good though could do with some variations.

Booked a 2 night stay at the Ashkood room here at Dar Maya. Was warmly greeted by Yusuf outside the Medina. He also arranged the airport taxi for us which was prompt despite our plane being delayed by 2 hours. From the gate of the Medina, it is a 5 minute walk through the winding alleyways to get to the Riad. A small entrance tucked in a side street. Once you enter, you are in a different world; calm and serene. The Riad has only limited rooms: 5 I think so it's very quiet inside. Once in your room, you feel away from the hustle and bustle of the streets below. The room itself is spacious and clean and the bathroom is well designed with the added touch of underfloor heating and bathrobes for luxury feel. In the morning you are welcomed with a hearty breakfast consisting of fresh orange juice, a choice of eggs, fruit, yoghurt, crepes/pastry, preserves and tea/coffee to finish. The terrace is an added bonus to relax and unwind and the jacuzzi can be switched on if requested. Overall, one of the best Riads I have stayed in.

It felt very open and peaceful. Bright. You felt like you had your own private home. Comfortable. Room was large. Bathroom was stunning. Roof top terrace was stunning. Best breakfast! Staff were extremely helpful.

The rooftop hot tub was slightly chilly.

Good location , helpful staff , nice breakfast and rooms. For an affordable price in centre of Essaouria.
