Chambre d'hôte aux Pivoines

We had a lovely stay. The bed was clean and very comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent, with Cathy’s homemade jams and delicious cake being a particular highlight. The room was nicely decorated and very welcoming. The hosts were warm, friendly and genuinely helpful, and were always easy to reach and happy to chat. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this place.

Cathie et François nous ont accueillis chaleureusement, avec des petites attentions et beaucoup de bienveillance. La chambre indépendante était très agréable et les petits déjeuners avec des produits maison ou locaux excellants.

Weaving through the French and Spanish Pyrenees, we booked a stay at this location. We were looking forward to our stay here. This Chambre d'Hote is beautifully located and will give you wonderful opportunities to walk, cycle and enjoy the beautiful countryside and mountains. Drive to the end of the valley to the wintersport area. We had a wonderful day, exploring the routes there in this stunning terrain. The second evening we ate together with the owners, who made us a lovely homecooked dish.

The owners advertised their property wrongly, which led to a disappointment from our side. 1. The room advertises with a 'garden view', but consists of four walls with a door which can not be seen through. In the night you end up in a closed room, with bad mechanical ventilation. This in stead of hearing the sounds and looking at the views of the beautiful surroundings. I complained to the owner but got the reaction: "When you open the door, you can see the garden outside." And: "This was mentioned in the 'important notices section". That is ridiculous! So I am supposed to accept the misadvertisement on the front page and go look for the rectification further on? Maybe also tick the 'mountain view', 'city view' and 'sea-view'. When I get in my car and drive there, I can see them too. By the way: also with the door open: its not a garden you see, but the car park (see photo). 2. My complaint through Booking apparently lead to a trust issue: At breakfast the second day we were asked to pay the bill in advance. No problem, but insulting nonetheless. 3. Prices for the food were mentioned in the add. But on arrival we were told that we should have announced upon booking that we wanted to eat. Reason: "We cook only natural food in ways that takes much time to prepare". Not wanting to compromise on that. Well... because every restaurant is closed on Sunday, after a long search we ended up at he Mc-Donalds at the Motorway. Nice result! 4. The locations is supposed to be suitable for handicapped. I'm sorry, but a handle and a seat doesn't make it accessible. On the photo's of the entrance door you can see what we mean. 5. Supposedly French, Spanish and English is spoken. They tried, but the table-conversation dropped dead on their English. I conclude: People rating this location a 9,4 is an insult for many of the other 25 locations we booked through Booking.
