    Lovely quirky hotel. We were part of a group so were able to see the other rooms. All rooms are very individual and we unfortunately had the smallest room. It was tricky with 2 people and 2 suitcases. Shower room was also very small. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were included. Food was very good and staff were lovely. No hair dryer in the room but you could ask for one. It felt like a true Egyptian experience, better than the faceless chain hotels. I would happily stay again.

    Gamaleya is different in a good way. Home cooked meals made in front of you, extraordinary craft workshop and location in old Cairo is hard to beat. If you’re looking for an experience rather than just a hotel, then this is for you.

    We chose this hotel for the location and were very pleased with our decision. The hospitality and lovely staff made it feel like home. It’s definitely good value for money, though I would be willing to pay more for an improvement in the facilities, particularly, the hot water system. Everything else was really pleasant.
