The apartment is located at the top of a very steep hill and there is only (paid) parking on the street below or free parking at the beach 10 mins walk away. However this means that you have spectacular views from the balcony over the port and town, and the mountain in the distance. There is a code to enter the gate before you reach the apartment so it felt secure. The apartment was much more spacious than expected and the beds were really comfortable. I appreciated the dressing table and mirror in the main bedroom. Both bedrooms have plenty of clothes storage and a door onto the balcony. The balcony had a table and chairs, sun loungers and a laundry rack with pegs provided. There was a working oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and even a tea kettle. The pool was excellent, very clean and there were not many others using it so felt private and easily accessible. There is a calm mini beach at the bottom of the hill perfect for kids and the larger beach is only 10 mins walk. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and supermarket very close by, but being at the port end the streets are quiet and peaceful at night. Els Arcs Pizzeria and Restaurant Montserrat were great for our family and there is a large Spar supermarket next to the beach for groceries. There were a few things I have mentioned as negatives but nothing that would stop me returning and I would recommend this place to all types of travellers.

There are things that would have made the difference to our experience. For example, having to collect the keys from an office some distance from the apartment would be challenging if you didn't have a car and with your luggage (15 mins walk away). The lady at the office was pleasant but all she did was hand over the keys and take our remaining payment. There could be someone meeting us at the apartment instead or a key box with a code to avoid having to go to the office. For checkout, all we did was hand the keys back, so this could have been much easier to leave the keys at the apartment. She also didn't tell us about towels but fortunately I read that towels were provided for a fee so we had planned ahead and brought our own. If I hadn't read that, or forgot, we would have arrived at the place without a single towel and would have had to make the trip back to the office again. She also didn't mention the very steep hill you need to walk up to enter the apartment, which was challenging even for those in our party who don't have mobility issues. Luckily I had looked up the address on Google maps beforehand so was able to see the hill and ask her about it, but it's something important to mention as it's not clear in the listing. The first thing I noticed when we entered the apartment was a large infestation of ants. The were coming in from the main door. I believe this could be easily treated with some attention. All of the cups/glasses/cutlery were very dirty so we immediately had to wash everything before use. With paying a cleaning fee, we would expect clean dishes. We were given a small sachet of dish soap and a sponge, but no tea towel to dry dishes, and some hand soap for the bathroom and tablet for the dishwasher would have been nice. We were given one bin bag and one roll of toilet paper which with 2 adults and 2 kids didn't last long! We had to make the beds up ourselves (not a problem, just something to be aware of).
