Lovely place, enjoyed it very much.

Location superb,beds and linen first rate, outside space lovely and well maintained.

Bath/shower very used.. A modern shower would be an improvement. Handle in the bath for older clients. Very compact but good use of space. Really only suitable for 3 adults because of seating.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful location and we would return

The location is superb, particularly as we were attending a family wedding at Thorpeness Country Club, which we walked to. Being so close to the beach meant we could go for a dip in the sea before breakfast. The accommodation was light and airy and very clean. However, given the weather, it would have been good to know that there were fans in the shed next to the house. We didn't find them until we were leaving and looking for the bins.

There was a problem with flies and the upstairs windows do not open very far. There isn't anywhere for the guests in the 'family room' upstairs to hang up clothes. We ended up using the light fitting wires that run across the ceiling, but not sure how safe that was. also a full length mirror upstairs would also be useful. It could be a bit awkward regarding privacy, if the larger house next door had been occupied.

A fantastic family retreat

Such an amazing location the kids and I were blown away by how close we were to the beautiful beach. So much house beautifully decorated with everything you need for a fantastic family break away from it all.

We were a group of 4 and there wasn’t really enough comfortable seating in the lounge area, had to bring the beanbags down from the bedroom but that worked and was very cosy

An unkept property in a beautiful location.

The directions provided for the property were not accurate. The pre-arrival information pack was not accessible and so we didn't know whether we needed own towels etc. We did ask for the info to be sent in a different format, twice, but received no response. The entire place absolutely stank of fish, so much that when trying to dry after a shower, it was like drying with a fish as the towels stank so badly of fish, utterly repulsive. The heater didn't work in the bathroom and so it was absolutely unbearably freezing at a time when the outside temp was zero degrees. Reported the issue on night one and got a plug in heater on the evening of night two. Although there are beds for 6 people, this place is only just big enough for 4 people. It just felt a little unkept.... Standard lamp not working, heater not working, shower wouldn't turn off, plug stuck in the bath.... The location is perfect, albeit absolutely empty during January, literally not anyone around, no lights on in any houses, really eery but very peaceful. We wouldn't return here.

Nature at its best

Gem hidden, Spinney’s Boathouse On The Beach, Thorpeness, Suffolk. Beautiful, boathouse accommodation with stunning views over the beach/sea and the outstanding nature it has to offer. The Spinney’s Boathouse has a lovely kitchen/ living room together with everything you would need, even boardgames and books for your relaxing stay. The bedrooms and bathroom were spotless including the most comfy large bed. From the beach you can see Aldeburgh which is a lovely walk along the beach or walk along the beach in the other directions to the heart of Thorpeness. This picture postcard village has a fabulous cafe with a delicious bakery, which leads to a large antiques store. Opposite on the village green there is another tea room overlooking a huge lake (you can hire boats), and a duck pond. Turn another corner and you will find the Dolphin Inn servicing delicious food and the sister inn The Parrot, in nearby Aldringham, is well worth a visit. We would highly recommend The Spinney’s Boathouse On The Beach, please book, (we would like to revisit) and enjoy the lovely memories as we did on our stay with our puppies (which were warmly received). The Spinney’s Boathouse On The Beach, Thorpeness, Suffolk, hidden Gem.

Loved the stay overall and would do it again

Location was amazing and room was good think a smart TV may be better than fully loaded sky box.

Wasn't happy with £110 cleaning fee yet we had to strip beds take bins out ect. There was no vacume in the cupboards.

Wonderful location, easy walk into both Thorpeness & Aldeburgh.

The main bedroom was a little tight & the hot water didn’t stay on long enough for 3 quick showers at a time. We could have done with more mugs and bigger water glasses (however I know we drink a lot of water).

Potentially magical, secluded stay brought down by lack of finishing touches and care.

location great-boathouse wonderfully placed for beach and near to road without being troubled by traffic in any way.

Some sort of curtains/basic blinds needed for upper bedroom which is not too comfortable Sofa shabby and dirty Lounge curtains shabby and don't cover the window when drawn Lounge dresser unit shabby/dirty Pipes around sinks/radiators dirty/dusty. Bathroom mat needs cleaning Welcome pack minimal- scourer and 3 washer tabs plus cloth Info pack ranks somewhere between useless and officious whilst being none too informative Area around the property strewn with broken, rusted bits and bobs - mostly placed in full view outside boathouse entrance and windows- Rusted garden swing, rusty bbq in a torn cover, flower pots. Feeling that the boathouse is very much secondary to main house

Perfect Suffolk beach getaway

Great location for a short break enjoying the local area. Property perfect for our group and outside space fantastic for relaxing in both morning and evening. Everything we needed for a perfect stay was there for us. Communication before and during stay was spot on and response was quick.

we enjoyed our stay especially meals out at the dolphin and the kitchen.

the location was good next to the beach. the view of the beach was great but a shame it was only from the bedroom and bathroom. the area is very nice with lots of interesting walks.

the bed was low and uncomfortable as were the pillows. we did not sleep well. the seating in the living are was also uncomfortable, very well worn and low to sit on causing back ache. there was no wardrobe in the bedroom only hooks on the wall to hang clothes. there was a cupboard which was not suitable for clothes storage but did look good! a full length mirror would have been useful, we found one under the bed, very dusty, when we were doing a last check to make sure we hadnt left anything. the info brochure in the house is out of date. i tried to send an email to the address in the brochure but it could not be delivered

Superb

Well decorated little cottage (and most aren't nicely decorated!) literally on the beach. Comfortable bed (see my last sentence!)

The only little niggle is that we were requested to keep our dog (a 5kg mini dachshund) on a lead - so he couldn't run in the little yard between the cottage and the beach. I think the owner (or whoever was in the big house adjacent) has dogs, but still it would have been nice for ours to be able to run around and sniff.
