Where do I begin? I booked the property through booking.com not knowing it was a VACASA property. After booking I was informed it was a third party booking which seemed fine. The original email from VACASA stated to call the customer service number 48 hours prior to our arrival so the pool could be heated. I only booked this place because of the pool. I called 48 hours prior to our arrival and was told it was an extra $72 a day to have the pool heated. I explained that it was never listed in the booking on booking.com and was told I have to pay it or the pool won’t be heated. I asked to speak to a manager, and whoever I talked to from VACASA was rude and dismissive. Needless to say the pool was never heated. Not a big deal considering the warm weather but shady on VACASA’s part trying to add extra fees after the booking. The house it’s run down and in need of repairs. The refrigerator door wouldn’t seal, and it sad it was 66 degrees inside of the fridge, which seemed right because it was warm inside. It was also beeping every few minutes to let you know the door wasn’t closed all the way. I contacted the local VACASA property manager who sent a repairman out. He was nice and ended up bringing us a mini fridge for the four days we were there. While I was cooking on the stove a metal strip from the vent hood on the microwave fell and hit me, that wasn’t pleasant. The pool was dirty and I had to ask after arriving for it to be cleaned. It was obvious it wasn’t cleaned, there was a lime wedge in the pool and beer bottle caps all around. The house was dirty, my daughter found a baby bottle with some kind of liquid inside on the coffee table. There was someone’s hair and dirty wet towels in the upstairs bathroom. There’s also only one box fan for the whole house so if you go in the summer get ready to sweat because that house gets HOT. Especially the upstairs. We brought a portable air conditioner which helped keep the first floor reasonably cool

The igniter on the gas grill doesn’t work so don’t go buy groceries to barbecue unless you have a lighter to start the grill. Also in the basement the grates are sticking out of the ground so be careful walking. There’s also no chalk for the pool table, not a deal breaker but just added to the list of disappointments. Also if you’re not familiar with the area Lake Arrowbear has nothing to do. There’s literally about three restaurants in the area. I’d recommend making the drive to Big Bear or going to Crestline.
