Jilan ist ein aufmerksamer Gastgeber. Er kümmert sich gut um sein Haus und wenn ich etwas brauchte, hat er gleich geholfen. Er hat einen schönen ruhigen Garten und er mir angeboten, dass ich dort Yoga machen kann. Seine Mutter hat ein tolles glutenfreies Frühstück zubereitet (weil ich Glutenintoleranz habe). Das Frühstück im Garten zu genießen war wunderbar. Die Kommunikation war direkt und ich habe schnelle Antworten bekommen. Ich habe mich als Alleinreisende sicher gefühlt. Die Strandnähe und die ruhige Lage sind toll.

Das mit der Dusche und dem Wasserabfluss ist leider baulich bedingt und nicht so schnell veränderbar. Aber es wurde von Beginn an kommuniziert und mir gleich ein Abzieher gegeben, um das Wasser wegzubekommen.

The room itself was actually really nice. The air conditioning worked perfectly, the bed was comfortable, and the mosquito net was great to have. There was hot water and even two different options for showering, which was a nice touch. Overall, everything in the room was absolutely fine. I’m personally not really a breakfast person, but the breakfast was well prepared and nicely arranged.

The main reason I gave a lower rating is purely because of the host. The best way to describe it is that I found him quite pushy. I had read similar things in other reviews, but unfortunately I experienced it myself as well. At one point, I asked him to take me somewhere, which he didn’t do even though i confronted him that we went to the wrong place. Instead, he said he would bring me to a friend of his and mentioned he could arrange a discount because he “knew me.” When we arrived, the person there said they couldn’t offer any discount, and at that moment the host was suddenly nowhere to be found. Everything felt very forced, like his way was always supposed to be better. If I may give one piece of advice, it would be to really work on the attitude towards guests. Being helpful is great, but this felt uncomfortable and not genuine. I hadn’t experienced this anywhere else in Sri Lanka, which made it extra disappointing. His intentions might be good, but the communication didn’t feel pleasant, and I think it’s only fair to prepare future guests for that.
