1166 on Booner - Hawks Nest

The private deck was amazing, with the oversize chess set and the hammock. We loved it and regularly had an early dinner up there. The furnishing was beautiful, and the kitchen set up and facilities were really great. We went up for Easter and it was a lovely touch to have chocolate eggs provided.

We struggled to get the Netflix to work (this might be a Netflix issue with our account rather than the accommodation). The pool was too cold to use (but it was Easter time, and we were super close to the beach, this was not an issue).

The photos online didn’t prepare us for the attention to detail, interesting and enchanting decor. The rooftop terrace particularly, being so high from the ground, nestles you in the canopy of the eucalyptus trees surrounding and conveys privacy and serenity. Our family so enjoyed this as well as the multiple places to sit, the board games and feeling of luxury throughout. Omg the plush towels! Very easy walk to everything in Hawks Nest. Beautiful neighbour who gave us tips on the market near the beach on a Saturday morning. We were treated to sharing the surf with multiple pods of dolphins passing by. Even with the rain on our final evening we loved the beach, the community aspect in the surf club bar (byo snacks!), sitting on the roof terrace all cosy with the rain falling around us and staying perfectly dry. There’s an easy walk to the cafe for early morning coffee, a lunchtime dawdle to the pub just off the beach, and a million reasons to stay in and cook dinner just so you can sit in all the lovely places around the apartment and enjoy the aspect. I needed a serious short break from work and feel like I stepped into a little oasis of peace.

Be prepared for the stairs, they are manageable but an incentive not to overpack. If travelling with someone elderly or physically challenged in stair climbing just be aware and park at street level rather than the garage. Definitely don’t be put off booking by this, the property is absolutely worthwhile, but maybe 1 bag of snacks instead of 3 bags is sufficient, or bring along two hyperactive gophers as we did.

Great location. Very comfortable unit with plenty of chill out space and activities. Plenty of kitchen space. So easy to get to the beach and the shops.

Had a strange smell we noticed on arrival that hung around for a few days - we were thinking it might have been the cow hide mat or a dog smell or a particular deodoriser.
