We liked staying in this little house on the outskirts of Fukushima. It's an old house that gives you a taste of that style of house. There was lots of room compared to the small apartment we stayed in in Tokyo! Parking was easy. It's very close to farmland with space for a run along the river nearby. We slept on genuine futons and ate at a (small) low table, seated on cushions on the tatami mats. There's a little kitchen and functional bathroom. All was very clean. The hosts were responsive and friendly.
The futons were not the comfiest for us, as we're not used to them, but it was okay. The house is on the outskirts of Fukushima and not that close to restaurants. We had a car so it wasn't a big problem for us. There was a washing machine, which was great, but no dryer - we dried our clothes on the provided clothes hangers and racks.
