Good for overnight stop, would recommend.

Very comfortable room. Room and bathroom very clean. On a main road but double glazing eliminated nearly all traffic noise. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice.

Lovely friendly stay

Lovely big rooms and great facilities very nice food in the bar Only downside the breakfast was a slight let down, the sausages were deep fried and bacon frazzled. A pity because the place exceeded our expectations on other levels.

The bathroom had a problem with the drains room 6!

Solo one night stay.

Spacious room, very clean and I slept very well. Good facilities in the room, perfect for a short stay. The pub restaurant/Indian theme was also really well executed and I enjoyed all the food and beverages that I ordered. The location is great for exploring nearby towns such as Belper, Wirksworth and Cromford.

10am is an early check out time 11am would have been better.

Fresh,New clean hotel.

The whole place was modern and clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Stayed one night. There is an Indian restaurant in the adjacent bar but didn't use it. Plenty of parking. We had the superior room which was a good size.

Couple of small gripes. The mirror over the dressing table is too high up so wife could not use. We arrived at 3.30pm to find the hotel/restaurant does not open until 4pm. Maybe make that clearer on the website.

Sufficient

Location was sufficient

Locating the property needs to be simplified. There is no sign to say that the strutt arms and the peacock and elephant are the same place and to knock/enter to check-in when the lights are off in the pub. The postcode on this site for the property is one for across the road in Google. The check-in communication needs to be improved. The walls of the rooms need to be washed and additional blankets available for winter.

Disappointed

The property was close to our friends and convenient. The actual room was nice. A bit cold when we arrived.

The bathroom was not clean and had hairs in the sink and shower. Broken gksss and one had toothpaste in and quarter toilet roll left.

Lovely large clean room (No 1), Large bathroom was spotless with large bath & shower. Food in the restaurant was excellent & good portions. Service was perfect by the professional staff they were a credit to the restaurant. Will be back again if only for the food. 🏆

More Than Adequate for A Short Business Stay in The Area

Great location for a business trip to Derby. Lots of on site parking that just requires patrons to log their vehicle in at the terminals in the bar area but you need to make sure to get the right terminal for the right area of the car park. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The bedroom and bathroom were exceptionally spacious, immaculately clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom included a separate shower and bath. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the room temperature was pleasant. Although the windows did not appear to open, the radiator was adjustable and there was a fan in the room so that the temperature could be adjusted. The bar restaurant served an excellent selection of Indian cuisine which was very enjoyable. The cooked breakfast options were good.

We chose a deluxe room but were slightly disappointed by the limited tea/coffee options. For the price of a deluxe room, a pod or drip coffee machine option would have been nice. There was an ironing board but no iron. While we appreciated the size of the bathroom and the cleanliness, there was only one small towel radiator in the room which could not be adjusted manually and appeared to be on a timer. The size of the radiator is insufficient to heat the room in colder weather and having it on a timer didn't help. The floor was nicely tiled but without any underfloor heating this only added to the chill. When we mentioned this to the staff they were very helpful and said that they would "boost" the radiator for us. This worked but only for the short time in the evening after we requested it. The bathroom was cold again in the morning and without a phone in the room we couldn't readily notify the staff. While the cooked breakfast was great, the 'continental' options were a bit meagre; not much variety to choose from and on the second morning we were provided orange squash instead of orange juice.

Repeat Visitors

Our third stay this year so we must like something about it. It is an interesting and useful combination of pub, hotel and Indian restaurant. Food and staff are very good. Room price reasonable. Very busy on Saturday night so obviously popular. Open all days now apparently.

One of my pet hates is a bathroom extractor fan linked to the light that continues for a long time after the light is switched off. The front of the hotel overlooks the A6 road so there can be traffic noise. Not bad early Sunday morning. Double glazing probably not allowed due to planning restrictions.

Cracking pub/hotel with lovely rooms and great food and drink- recommended

Lovely pub located just off the main Derby road. The pub was lovely and clean and served some lovely Indian cuisine. The room upstairs was clean and comfortable with nice a nice hot shower and adequate heating. There was a choice of breakfast options the following morning from cereals up to a full English. All the staff we met were very nice especially the host .

Always worth a visit 😊

This was our 3rd time staying this year . Always a good welcome from friendly staff . Room cosy, warm and comfortable. Dinner was very good I had a roast hubby had Indian. Breakfast also very good . Do try this hotel you won’t be disappointed.

Great stay lovely rooms very spacious warm welcome friendly staff although he did not dine in the evening since we went for local wedding anniversary the food smelt delicious and looked fab We had breakfast it was cooked to order very fresh plenty of cereals too and muffins we would definitely book again 5*

Comfortable stay, food may be too rich for some

The secondary glazing helped to lower the noise of a rather busy road outside. The room was a lovely size, bed comfortable. Nice TV, room decs. Lovely heavy curtains. Couldn't hear anything from the pub/restaurant below. Food menu was lovely and food tasted great.

Unfortunately the shower door was off the roller bracket so the door wouldn't close, just had to angle the shower so it didn't soak the floor. The nets were quite black. Lights didn't work yesterday morning. Meal as stated was lovely but within half an hour it was completely out of my system, and my stomach as well as my colleagues was grumbling too

Great stay - everything we needed for a nights stay.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. I had forgotten my shampoo but they soon bought up a bottle for the room. The bar had a good selection of drinks and snacks. The room was really good for what we wanted and bed was very comfortable. The evening meal - we had the Sunday roast - was lovely and the apple crumble was delicious

Stayed previously. The pub is nicely decorated and the rooms are very big and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is superb and the staff are always very friendly. Worth visiting for the Indian food alone.
