Greenwood safari camp

Greenwood Camp is perfectly located immediately outside Talek Gate, the best entrance into Masai Mara from Nairobi, Naivasha or Nakuru, for leopard and predator sightings. Greenwood Camp has an excellent range of accommodations including bungalows, luxury tents, budget tents and camping areas, the owner can arrange for transportation to and from the camp, and game drives with skillful, knowledgable, and friendly drivers. The food was fresh and delicious, and the staff were exceptional, providing early morning tea and coffee before the game drives, and packed breakfasts and lunches. Coordinating our safari experience with Greenwood allowed us to work directly with the end provider rather than working through a third party tour company. We saw every animal up close and in action we hoped to see in the Masai Mara, and our total experience of Greenwood Camp far exceeded our hopes and expectations.

Luxury tent with fabulous private bathroom at a camp immediately adjacent to the less crowded Talek gate. Delious food was freshly prepared by delightful staff overseen by owner who has excellent connections with providers of transportation to and from the camp as well as professional, knowledgable and skillful game drivers. Anticipating both needs and comfort for an exceptional safari experience, the owner made our safari the best trip of our lives, which says a lot given we are highly seasoned travelers to over 57 countries. We were overwhelmed by the excellence of Greenwood Camp.

Our stay at Green Wood Safari Camp - in one word - Amazing. Needn’t think twice about your stay if you are looking for a clean conveniently located and affordable stay for your next Masai Mara trip. Our entire stay including the airport pick-up and drop-off, to our safari vehicle with guide, was all very well taken care by Mr Magdy - the man behind the Greenwood. Would also like to mention he is a renowned photographer. We had some great conversations with him about his travels. The stay is very close to the Talek gate, 5 mins away. The location is perfect which gives you a great start as you can enter soon as the gate opens. They have budget-friendly as well premium ones. We had opted tent option. It was very good, with nice bedding, clean washrooms and hot water. Camp has beautiful outdoor areas to relax..with camp fire at night. All the guests had an amazing time during the surprise Masai dance arranged around camp fire after our dinner. Our safari vehicle and guide (arranged by Mr Magdy) was very brilliant - Mr Milton..very knowledgeable about his land and his wild friends. He made sure that we got an amazing and memorable experience. He was very good at spotting animals and taking us up close to them. Ms Penina - the wonderful chef took good care and packed our breakfast and lunch for the safari ride and served us dinner in the dining area after our long rides. Mr Danny - a very calm and cool guard, made sure we were safe in the camp at night - Hippo alert ;). Our driver Mr Mwagi - was very kind and took us all the way up and down from Nairobi Airport to Greenwood. To be honest we dint feel the long 6 hour ride due to his very friendly nature. Room was modest but comfortable and had all the amenities you may need for a short stay. Food was delicious and plenty, made only better by the friendliness of the staff there. Location is fantastic - just minutes from the gate.

Wifi was super spotty, pretty much unusable.
