Luxurious royal estate in historic Sintra paradise

I loved the eclectic, antique atmosphere. The garden was beautiful and the animals were an amazing, homely bonus. There was a beautiful, calm farm-like mood to the property too.

I was accidentally under-prepared for the cold weather when it got slightly cold at night.

The property owner was exceptionally responsive and met us on-site to hand over the keys personally. He was incredibly helpful and even allowed us to host our rehearsal dinner on the property. His generosity went above and beyond—he kindly let us leave some of our equipment behind after the stay when we couldn’t get it picked up in time. Throughout our visit, he was always friendly and happy to chat whenever we crossed paths. The house itself was absolutely stunning—the most beautiful place we’ve ever stayed. Every single guest loved their room, the thoughtful amenities, and the breathtaking views. Overall, our experience could not have been more perfect. We would return to Sintra just to stay in this home again.

Beautiful house and location and Mr Dantas the property manager did his best to help.

The swimming pool was green and full algae when this was raised with the owner he basically said it was due to a power problem and they tried to fix it but couldnt. Also the sauna and steam room where not available to use. There is only one cleaner to do all the work of the house which is an impossible task for a quick turn around. The set up felt a bit explotative to the lovely cleaning lady trying her best. However ultimately the owner would not refund a portion of the cost due to non use of all the listed facilities but he did offer a reduction if I booked again which I didn't think was fair. Booking.com customer support on this issue was absolutely Kafkaesque and a waste of time as they did not do anything to recover the sums owed as compensation for not having all the facilities listed that should have been available to use as that is what the price per night includes.
