The location is the best for the whole island of Kythnos. Every other town of Kythnos is easily accessible by a 7- to 20-minute drive. The excellent beach of Apokrousi (best in Kythnos) is a 12-minute drive. Martinos Studios is easy to reach at the south side of Merihas. They clean the room every day, including on Sundays. We parked our car in front of the studios every day. From there, the 60 steps to reach the uppermost rooms (ours was such a room) that others complain about, are nothing, unless you're a person with disabilities. The top-level room where we stayed had a little balcony and an excellent view. There is only an apartment complex (πολυκατοικία) some 50 m away that blocks about 1/5th of the view, but otherwise one can see most of the beachfront of Merihas.

Perfectly located at the port, near tavernas and the supermarkets, easy to find, lovely view of the port from our room. The room was cleaned every day, and the towels and bed sheets weren't changed every day (which I love because you barely use them and hate unnecessary washing etc.)! The host was really sweet and friendly, and the resident cat was cute (apparently he's a little anti-social but he liked me). The room was small but perfect for our needs as we are out all day until night time. The balcony was also small but again, perfect for a morning coffee and to hang your towels and swimwear. The bed was really comfy and the air con was really good, I often get a sore throat with air con but this must be cleaned regularly as I didn't have any issues with it, plus it wasn't directly above the bed. Nice to give us the mosquito plug ins, but we had no issues with mozzies in the room at all (I did get bitten at the tavernas on the beach but that was because I had cocoa butter on and it's sweet smelling). There is space to park your car/bike out the front. The kitchen was a tiny kitchenette and had very basic but useful appliances - the water boiler boiled water super fast for a cup of tea/coffee. The telly had great signal for sports channels which made my husband very happy for watching the world cup games that were on during the early hours of the morning so he was very pleased! The shower was powerful and spacious and always had hot water.

It would have been handy to have a little shelf in the shower but I just put my bits on the mat on the floor. The one thing I always need - which goes for any apartments and all hotels I have ever stayed in - more hooks on the walls! It's so helpful just to hang bags, sarongs, towels, hats etc. but I just hung my bits over the chairs so it wasn't an issue, I just like hooks and hotels/apartments never have any/enough.
