Pearl by Olys Apartment

The staff was very helpful, the security was reassuring and the amenities made it feel like a home. There is only a washing machine on site so we hung laundry around the room to dry. For my fellow USA tourists: you might have to use the switches to turn on all the appliances like the fridge and water heater. Everything does work, but it's not the same setup as we use. My Bengali is very limited but the staff is patient and willing to assist, just ask. This is a good place to stay if you want to be in a nontourist part of town. It's close to shopping and dining options the locals use. The traffic noise does calm down at night and the windows face the neighboring building instead of the street.

I often wished for a sharper and second knife. The kitchen things have been well used (broken spatula handle, burned plastic food storage) by others. The shower is better than a campground one but less than a Motel 6 is where I would rate it. Some times the water pressure is low; give it a moment to get going.

Clean, secure and great staff.

Minimal noise in yard/driveway

The location is absolutely beautiful. Its literally a walking distance from 6 Ballygunge Place. If you have been in the locality previously, you can very quickly access Ekdalia, Cornfield Road, Broad Street and Ballygunge Phari.

One of the caretakers ask too many personal questions and seemed like he was prying which I absolutely hated! Also, at the end, every body including the guard kind of lined up to take money from us which is just ridiculous to me. Since I didn't give any money to the guard, the guy literally had an annoyed face as if I have failed fulfilling a duty of mine or something.

Location is great. Refrigerator, washing machine, tv, induction, microwave, electric kettle available. Pearl is 1 room flat in an apartment which has been redone but only partially. Lift available. AC, geyser works fine. Wardrobe, iron box available. Feels like everything has been packed into the room with little comfort.

The bed creaks everytime you move on it, very irritating. The bed is in the corner, so 2 people sitting on the bed is very hard and involves a lot of creaking. There are 2 straight back dining chairs provided, so there isn't much choice to relax in the room. The window looks into the houses of the adjacent building, so keeping the curtains closed at all times is the only option, giving the room a very gloomy vibe. The room has been redone but not fully. The wc, wash basin & shower enclosure, taps in the bathroom are new but the soap dish & shower drain are rusted. The bathroom window is covered by dirty curtains. No toiletries, except handwash. The building security guard was a big bother. He kept banging on our cab window asking for money.
