Choibana Ecolodge

What a treasure!! Easily my favorite beach of my life. Each day was a reward, whether it was the incredible sunrises, or watching thunderstorms across the bay. The experience of being so close to the vast nature of the area was something unforgettable. What made this whole thing that much more special was our time with Luis and Mirlan. They cooked incredible food and made the whole atmosphere so warm and authentic. Mirlan deserves to have her own restaurant :) She is a force of nature and a remarkable person, making us feel at home at every turn. She helped us arrange activities with amazing local guides, let me learn how to make ceviche, and took the whole experience to a transcendent level. We left feeling as if they were old friends. My partner and I have both decided our stay at Choibana has probably ruined us on any vacation we take for the rest of our lives because this one's gonna be impossible to beat :)

Un lugar maravilloso para ir a estar tranqui y descansar de verdad. El equipo de Choibana es muy atento y amable. Cocinan delicioso.

Podría haber variedad en la proteína diaria, pues todos los días comimos atún (que igual estuvo delicioso y se esforzaron por cocinarlo distinto). También podrían vender algunos cócteles.

La ubicación es insuperable. Choibaná tiene una playa aislada y privada ideal para pasar todo el día sobre la arena y en el mar. Otra cosa que nos sorprendió fue lo delicioso que cocinan tanto en el desayuno como en el almuerzo y cena. Mucho mejor que otros hoteles boutique 5 estrellas que visitamos en la zona.

Las habitaciones y cabaña podrían tener más amenidades o muebles. Son demasiado básicas.

beautiful location, far away from everything. Enrique, who was managing the lodge on the spot, organizing boat transfer and helping with excursions, was very friendly.

While the bed was comfortable and clean, the room itself and particularly the bathroom were rather dirty and without toilet seat. The room window couldn’t be locked. Food was very basic. If comparing with another Ecolodge where I’ve also stayed nearby, Choibana is completely overpriced. I’m puzzled that other reviews are so positive - maybe something went wrong with the staff available during my stay??
