We enjoyed two very relaxing nights at Refugio del Cares. Proximity to both mountains and ocean make it a great 'home base' to explore Asturias from. When we needed a rest-day after several big hikes, we explored beaches in and near Llanes and had a wonderful seafood lunch in the marina before we walked the colorful breakwater in town. The food, quiet vibes, and hospitality were all well-curated, offering an ideal B&B style stay. We finished our full exploration days by lounging at the pool, then having a pre-dinner glass of wine while watching the sunset over the mountains from the bench in the back yard.
Be aware there are limited to no dinner options to walk to. The food at Refugio del Cares is excellent, but plan ahead and be prepared to drive to a larger town if it is their weekly night off.

This place, and the couple who run it, is exceptional. Every single thing was wonderful - the basics (very clean, very comfy beds, excellent wi fi, stunning location) but also so many extra touches…. The details are all there, from little cotton wipes for makeup removal to the atmospheric line of candles in the evening dining room to the amazing and SO beautifully presented breakfast to the discreet and friendly questions as to what we would like for breakfast … I could go on but I think Booking has a word limit. Do not, on any account, miss out on an evening meal - the cooking is extremely good. If you can get here, do not miss out.
Absolutely nothing.

Views of the mountains, swimming pool, large outdoor space, rural location, within easy reach of Arenas/Poncebos/Covadonga, very large comfortable bedroom, friendly and helpful hosts.
No negatives, unless you count the cowbell symphony from the next field at night! That’s an expected feature of the countryside around here.

Very nice house with only 4 rooms, lovely couple, exceptional food. Short car trips bring you to nice hiking destinations
Narrow streets and parking spots, but this is not a problem of this property but of a lot of places in Spain in general.
