Domaine de Badine, 15 min Bordeaux & Saint-Emilion

Great value country estate, ideal for groups travelling together, with a lovely pool area. The rooms are XXL, beautifully decorated and finished to a premium standard.

The place is more of a wedding and events venue in the middle of the countryside than a traditional hotel, so there was no staff on the premises and no bar or restaurant, but lots of empty big rooms. The three of us were the ONLY guests, which made the whole experience feel a little strange. The main negative was the 9:00 am check-out time, which felt extremely early — in France, 11:00 am is much more usual.

Alles was perfect: heel erg bedankt. Sterk aan te raden. Mochten we toch iets kleins mogen zeggen: het zwembad was erg koud waardoor wij niet konden zwemmen.

The location was outside of main towns but still a reasonable 25 mins to St Emilion and Bordeaux. The bed was big (as described) and comfortable and had a duvet making sleeping arrangements easy. The shower pressure was good so hot showers were available. The outside shared area around the pool was nice as was the pool.

You are shown a fridge you can use in a communal area but no other facilities such as cups, plates, cutlery etc. We had to go looking for a cup or glass after hours when we realised nothing was available (There are no after hours staff). On the second day we asked for cups and they were left in the communal area but it’s not a regular setup where tea/coffee facilities are in your room. The property hosts meetings and weddings so on our last day we were woken by a group using the communal area for a meeting (loud clapping) and workmen starting floor laying upstairs at 7am. Whilst the room was spacious it only had one chair.

Very quiet. Beautiful property and comfortable bed. Hosts were very friendly and provided good recommendation for restaurant. They also offered breakfast for additional cost (although very expensive double the price- compared to other properties we recently stayed

The property has potential however is unfinished in the detail - no hooks for towels, bath mats, dish towel to name a few items I would expect as a minimum given the description. Also, we slept with windows open as very warm and mosquitoes were a problem
