Classique International in Dominica

Nice room in a guest house. Fridge, microwave, wifi all good. Hot water in shower. Nice garden with birds and pitcher plants. Staff helped us get taxi for a day trip. Close to bakery, supermarket and the jerk chicken stalls. Close to the airport so good for early departures or late arrivals. Marigot is a good base to visit the Kalinago district from.

We were not told how to switch the fridge on and there was a pair of light switches under a window we were not shown till next morning. These controlled some of the ceiling lights and the fan so we couldn't get them working on the first night. Perhaps a little crib sheet with this information in the room would be useful. Once we got everything working, no problems.

Great little hotel with very helpful and friendly hosts. We stayed here since our flight left early in the morning and we did not want to drive from Roseau to the airport at 4 AM in the morning. From there, it's only a 5 min drive. I believe you can also make dinner arrangements here. If you want to stay longer, the room might be a little small, but there is a microwave and a kettle. The bed was comfortable, too.

Everything was great.

This hotel is close to the airport, and the young man at the hotel was nice and helpful to arrange a local tour at a short notice. The room was adequate with a nice bed, good A/C, mini fridge, a mini microwave, and a private bathroom. The Sand Bay is within walking distance, but it's a steep descent and climb back up.

The bathroom had a leaky toilet with water continously flowing and the pipe below the sink was leaking, too, and resulted in water on the floor every time I used the faucet. The TV could not be used because the TV remote didn't work. There are no minisupermarkets or decent restaurants nearby. If it had been any other hotel, they would have given a discount for these inconveniences. The hotel also wanted me to pay the hotel fees upfront and through PayPal, and did not receive a message of receipt in spite of my request for confirmation of receipt. This is disconcerting, especially when booked through Booking.com and it advises not to pay outside of booking.com. If these minor issues about the bathroom, TV, and payment are addressed, this will be a decent hotel to stay near the airport.

We picked the hotel because it was close to the airport. We wanted somewhere to stay on our arrival because we were anticipating a delayed flight.

Communication with the owners was dreadful. We sent multiple emails regarding the evolving situation of our later and later arrival, first asking them to pass on the arrival time to the taxi meeting us, then asking if we would be too late for dinner and finally asking if they might be able to make us a sandwich because we were really late. We only got a reply when we explicitly asked that they acknowledged our email, but even then our questions were not answered. When we finally arrived nobody appeared to have even read our emails and, though we finally got a sandwich, it was grudgingly offered. To add to the general trauma, the owner even said he would have to check that that we had paid for the room! Which is another negative side to the hotel - they don't take cards, but do everything via PayPal requests! Finally, the room was advertised as having tea and coffee making facilities..... There was some instant coffee and one cup, but no kettle. I suppose we could have heated some water in the one cup in the microwave that was surprisingly in the room - but seriously??!
