Silk Island Homestay

As a solo traveller staying for four nights, I could not have chosen a better place to experience a quieter, more authentic side of Cambodia. From the moment I stepped off the short and easy ferry crossing, this stay felt special. I was warmly welcomed by Rany, who took the time to show me around the entire property and immediately made me feel more like a friend than a guest. Her genuine kindness and pride in sharing her home added something truly memorable to the experience. As only one guest booking is accepted at any time, I had exclusive use of the spacious upper floor ( Rany and her partner live downstairs ), including a comfortable air conditioned bedroom, indoor kitchen, dining area, relaxing lounge space and a beautiful veranda where fireflies danced after dark. The small swimming pool was perfect for cooling off in the heat. Each morning Rany delivered a delicious breakfast at a time that suited me. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and genuinely authentic, this is a rare glimpse into Cambodian life and a peaceful escape from the city. The care, hospitality and attention to detail were exceptional throughout.

It was so close to the ferry you could have walked, but I had a driver take me. I had the entire flat to myself, but it would’ve held my whole family so I totally will bring them back for a visit. You’re right by the river, so once you open up all the windows, you get a lovely breeze. There are air cons in each bedroom. The sun rises on the deck so you have shade all afternoon to enjoy the scenery. At night, you could see the fireflies and it was so relaxing. It’s also walking distance to a wonderful restaurant on the river called Black Palm restaurant where you could watch the sunset and have a beautiful view of the city. It’s also walking distance to the silk farm so you can see how they make the silk and buy scarves as well.

I don’t have anything negative to say other than it would’ve been nice to have a couple of lounge chairs down by the pool.

Séjour FANTASTIQUE chez Rany, hôte formidable. La maison est sublime, décorée avec goût, chambre propre et bien équipée. Rany cuisine très bien. Le lieu est un réel havre de paix, on s’y sent comme à la maison. La visite de l’île à vélo est très agréable et reposante. Il ne manque rien! Merci pour ton accueil Rany!

Rani l’hôte est aimable mais le logement ne correspond pas à nos attentes.

Logement spartiate, douches à l’eau tiède voire froide, lits sans confort très durs. La piscine est sale et l’environnement très rurale. On y est réveillé à 5h00 du matin par le chant des hauts parleurs. Très déçu par l’expérience et par la promesse des photographies présentées. Nous avons quitté le lendemain matin après une nuit et l’hôte nous a demandé de payer les trois jours complets y compris les petits déjeuners non pris. Mauvaise expérience à éviter.
