Il Poggio '' Casa di Rena''

What we liked is that the owner seemed to care about the place (in comparison with the neighboring units). The walls were freshly painted. All floors nicely tiled. The patio with the sun umbrella and the lemon tree providing a lot of cool shade was great (and unexpected) bonus. We had all our meals there. It is a pity that all other neighboring units seemed abandoned. Casa di Rena seemed to be the only one which seemed to be cared of.

There was a persisting smell in the bathroom coming probably from the dry siphons in the waste water pipes (we are not sure). The owner seemed to be aware of the problem because refreshing oil was plugged in. We hate to\he resulting perfume smell and have unplugged it. Then, the smell appeared and there was nothing we could do about it. We suspect that the problem might be related to the entire complex of which Casa di Rena is just a small part. Also, we have not expected such a long (almost 100 m) distance from the parking to the entrance to the apartment. At the age of 80+ it is quite serious problem when we had to move all our stuff.

A fantastic apartment, despite the slightly scruffy exterior of the building, Casa di Rena is fabulous! The decor is amazing (wow that bathroom!!), and it is so well equipped. Bed is so comfortable and wifi is amazing. Scalea is a lovely town, you can walk to it from the property, and there is a beautiful pebble beach also within walking distance. The surrounding area is interesting, we visited Diamante which is a lovely seaside resort and Santa Maria del cedro..the museum there dedicated to the history and cultivation of the cedro is fascinating and well worth a visit. This is a beautiful location, and without exception everyone we met was friendly and kind.
