This property was nice & clean with plenty of room for our family to relax. The host was very helpful in resolving a minor issue we had upon arrival, sending someone right away to make things right. Bedrooms were cozy & comfortable, and the climate controls were easy to use and responded quickly, keeping the whole house at a good temperature for our entire stay.
Bedrooms & bathrooms were very well kept and met all of our expectations. The bed we slept in was very comfortable, and the kids seemed to do well with the bunk bed. (We did not use the other bedroom, and the other kids were happy & comfortable sleeping on couches.)
Since this was a bit of a last-minute booking, I knew I couldn't be too picky with where we ended up. That being said, we usually prefer to stay somewhere a little more remote when we get away from home. For those who don't mind spending a vacation in a neighborhood, this won't be a problem. For us, it felt like we were spending time away from home at another home (rather than a cabin or a vacation home).
Additionally, this home feels very lived-in compared to other homes we've stayed at. Again, this might not be an issue for many travelers, but for us it was slightly uncomfortable when we were first settling in. For example, getting from the house to the back yard involves going through the garage, which is being used to store a bunch of stuff just lying out.
A few things about the wording used for the description of this place, which none of the reviews I read mentioned:
"whole house" -- it's actually one part of a duplex, with a private entrance
"large" -- it didn't feel very large to us, although it was roomy enough for our family of 6 to hang out
"historic" -- it was an old house, but with many modern conveniences
