Millgate Cottage in the heart of Richmond

Location was fantastic

The host didn't send the code for the door until 4:15 after messaging, emailing etc Also think 4pm check-in is quite late There were ants in the kitchen

Stairs were a little steep…someone with mobility problems may struggle but a typical old town house

Very quaint townhouse. It was well decorated, very cosy with all the heaters, especially the electric fire in the living room. The books and games available was a lovely touch, as well as the kitchen being well equipped. Beds were comfy, tv worked well and nice storage in the kitchen for coats and shoes. The location was perfect, just round the corner of the main square with plenty of shops and pubs. The parking is a short walk away and free.

It was difficult to open the door - we stood for 5 mins in the rain before figuring out it’s a hard pull whilst you unlock. Carbon monoxide alarm was beeping when we entered but we managed to silence it. The kitchen utensils weren’t very clean, specifically the glasses and cutlery and there was an empty sweet wrapper in the bed side table. There were some cracks around the house in the walls perhaps due to its age. The beams on the second floor ceiling were beautiful however the floor bowed when someone walked near the far side of the bed. At the end of our stay we were accused of flooding the house by leaving the “shower head open” and requested to pay £300. As this was not the case and we left the house as we had found it, this was resolved without any payment or further issue. this of course was a negative of our stay. This was an unfortunate ending to our pleasant stay.
