Cathay House

The beds were comfy, the kitchen well equipped for preparing meals & the location was perfect for exploring Cheddar and the surrounding Mendip hills.

The driveway is very tight to drive into, but with a careful 5 point turn it was no problem at all.

Loads of cobwebs! Not the cleanest place. I asked for some balloons to be put out for my partner’s birthday and offered to pay for this. My request was simply ignored.

Good facilities. Situated in Cheddar villlage. Easy to explore surrounding area.

Beautiful outlook. Lovely features. Private parking. Views of hills from 2 bedrooms. Comfortable Double with en-suite shower. Comfortable spacious twin room. Good sized kitchen with all you need and dining room. TV in both the sitting room and room to the front (hall). Property was warm, very easy to turn temp of heating down to suit our needs. Good walking access to Cheddar village and surrounding area. Supermarket nearby.

Third bedroom with bunk beds very small. Headroom on lower bunk very low. Difficult to open the window for fresh air because the bunk is against it. Bathroom: Surface of bath could do with renewing.

Nice place for the family though looks tired and outdated inside.

Location was great for the Gorge and local amenities. Plenty of space for th family, I say in the 'porch' area with a glass of wine every evening.

The place could do with a lick of paint and a new kitchen, it felt tired. Parking is a challenge. If you have a medium+ size car I would stick to parking in the road. The third bedroom is very small with bunk beds, The top bunk proved useful for my teenage daughter to actually store her stuff that didn't go in the drawers.

Good family holiday in an area new to us all.

Handy for local shops - also walking & cycling (Strawberry Line a couple of hundred metres away, Cheddar Gorge and Malvern Hills on the doorstep). Plenty of freezer-space for pre-cooked meals.

Narrow lane and narrow gateway made it tricky getting Astra estate car in and out.

Enjoyable weekend at Cathy House

Lovely location close to the gorge and local amenities.

3rd bedroom had a double bunk bed which barely fitted in leaving no room for anything else, probably OK for young child but with grown kids that I had it's not recommended, thankfully only had 1 sleeping in that room so they use the bottom bunk, no way they could of used the top, and they just got themselves ready in another room.

Excellent location - 2 min walk to Tesco Express, 2 min walk to park with play area, 10 min walk to Cedder Gorge, 10 min walk to indoor soft play area. Well-equipted cottage and nice little patio area.
