Beautiful Sea Pink Cottage

Beautiful cottage, very well appointed, some items brand new.

Got in a tangle in the heavy duvet but slept well overall. Struggled to get hot water in the shower but it was "user error". I needed to turn the knob much further than expected. Phoned up and they sent someone to help.

The Sea Pink Cottage was lovely. It is spacious, very clean and the kitchen is very well-appointed. The heating was very good, and the bathroom and bedroom are large, modern, and very well-decorated. The stove, microwave, TV and fireplace all worked well. It was very enjoyable to be there. I highly recommend this property and would be very happy to return here. Access for the property URGENTLY needs to be updated, as follows in the next section. The construction was very close-by, but the noise seemed very quiet, and did not disturb our visit at all.

The description of how to access the property URGENTLY needs to be updated. The construction behind the building means there is no "lane" behind the building, to walk down at all. The keys were easy to collect, once the Cottage had been located. A local person explained where the cottage was: Sea Pink Cottage is accessed by going through a wooden door facing directly onto Old Malthouse Lane, literally just 10 feet down the lane off the Langton Matraver high street. By walking not behind, but through the building when you come out the back door of the building, you access the stone walking path. Sea Pink Cottage is then the second cottage on the right-hand side, AFTER walking through the building on the corner of Old Malthouse Lane. The rubbish and recycling bins are beside the building, but the parking spot is a good distance down the lane (past the construction site) and the parking spot is clearly designated with a sign attached to the wire fencing on the right side of Old Malthouse Lane. In small details... There was one pink mug missing, and the Degonghi coffee machine was not working at all. I was not able to advise the hosts, as my phone was not working properly. The information provided by Sykes Offices about the property was confusingly repeated over and over in the emails I received but without clear host contact details.

OK for us as we were out a lot of the time but not OK for a quiet comfortable stay.

Cottage was OK once inside but access and parking was abysmal. Warning should be given about this and the price reduced accordingly.

Location was very poor, basically facing a building site with parking some distance away along a muddy pitted road at the building site. Access to the cottage was through a squalid building. Pictures on the website do not reflect any of this. No dishwasher but instead an unnecessary washing machine that probably hardly gets much use. A very basic bathroom with no toiletries, would usually expect some decent soap and shampoo for the price.

Disappointing..

Cleanliness. Inside of cooker was very dirty, microwave rusty, extractor fan full of dust, unable to reach the bedroom blind cord. Car damaged by falling cement from the roof.

Cottage was lovely, somewhat spoilt by building site.

Spacious clean, comfortable bed and all the amenities required. Location is good for walks and visiting attractions in area.

Nice....but disappointing

Comfortable bed and plenty of crockery and cutlery. Nice touch with the scones, cream and milk.

We arrived and wanted a cup of tea but the first two cups we pulled out were filthy. Lipstick marks and brown marks inside. The site was basically a building site and my first sight in the morning was a JCB diggers. Also the gutter is damaged and dripped all night. The bedside light nearest the door is unusable as there is no plug socket. The outdoor seating area could have done with a cover as it was covered in bird poo. On the only nice morning we had, it would have been nice to enjoy the garden. You have to walk through a site office type area to get to the cottage and the lights were not working and I fell down two steps which were not illuminated. Had I have known these things I definitely would have stayed elsewhere and it really wasn't a relaxing break. On the whole, very disappointed and I think the owner has a duty to tell people about the building work and get the gutter fixed.

Beautiful accommodation, surroundings not so much

The room was beautiful, freshly redecorated. The garden was ideal for the dog too

The shower hose had a split so the water pressure was lower that it should be. Building site and entrance was a big let down, really putting a dampener on the beautiful room

A good short break.

The location of the property was good very central for visiting other locations and walking.

The building site entrance and parking was confusing. Sounds like it has been like this for a while and not impressing the locals. Just didn't have a Wow factor even though the cottage itself is lovely.

A lovely short break in a beautiful cottage.

Beautifully presented inside, all equipment supplied. Very clean and homely. Lovely cream tea on arrival.

Wi-Fi very poor. Losing connection on TV regularly. Access not great and difficult if you are unsteady on your feet.

Very disappointing, we left early.

The cottage itself was bright, airy and comfortable.

Not knowing the there was a building site outside the cottage (as it wasn’t on the website in January when I booked). Having to walk through a derelict building to gain access or leave the cottage. Small blood spots on one of the pillow cases, bacteria growing on the draining rack, dirty cutlery draw, black mould on the windows.

Ideal for walks on Jurassic coast but is not a restful stay

Sea Pink cottage is ideally located for walks along the Jurassic coast and is close to Corfe castle and Swanage. The local pub has a deli which is open during the day time and is very useful as there are no other amenities in the village. Staff at Dreams cottages were responsive and pucked up on issues quickly.

The cottage is by the main road which connects Langton Matravers to Swanage and beyond. So on one side you hear the passing of traffic which started early in the morning and continued until 11.30pm, and are also overlooked from the pavement. On the other side, you face scaffolding and building work. In fact, it is hard to find the entrance as it is through a scaffolding strucutre. The big house next door was empty with windows open facing the small garden of Sea pink cottage. The Wi-Fi is intermittent and super slow. There is little attention to detail in terms of having a little washing up liquid or a sponge, perhaps few tea bags ( none) and a little coffee ( see photo, it was a solid block!).

A great week on the Dorset coast.

Good location close to coastal paths, spacious rooms and a pleasant garden area.

Building site to the rear of the property and adjoining property partially demolished, presumably awaiting renovation. Given these constraints £1000 for a week was expensive. Adequately equipped but lacking any coffee making facilities, a cafetière would be a useful addition. However, we did thoroughly enjoy our stay as the cottage itself is well presented and very comfortable.
