Great location and food but poor facilities

Breakfast was very delicious with fresh and local food, and the crêperie restaurant was great (we had one with local queijo minas + goiabada, worth trying), plus complimentary caipirinha on the first day and little cake+coffee stand throughout the afternoon, lovely. Location was brilliant, right on the seafront of the island in the cute and vibrant main village. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

The room was old and not very well maintained - the wooden windowframes and doors did not close properly so we had to stuff the gaping holes with toilet paper to make sure no mosquitoes would come in. There were no mosquito nets above the beds, which considering this is a tropical island with lots of mosquitoes, was not ideal. Staff knew about this but clearly weren't bothered about it. Bedsheets were stained. Our toilet flush wasn't working well plus we had to put all dirty toilet paper in a bin which we were told would be changed every day but staff failed to do this - ended up being quite smelly and unhygienic.

It was excellent!!

It was lovely place and perfect location with the best staff!! They were so friendly and helpful in everything! They also offered us many boat trips with good prices. When you feel cold in the night they give you another blanket. The breakfast was great, even a fresh juice every day! I have lactose intolerance and still so many options to choose!

It will be great if they will change bed sheets at least once during our stay, if you are there for longer time.

Disappointing

Reneta at the reception was very helpful and friendly.

Most disappointing thing was one evening when I asked to get a cup of hot water as I was sick and wanted something warm for my throat from the man who introduced himself as restaurant manager (Jan/Ian), he said "the kitchen is not for boiling water, its for cooking" and refused even if I told him I am sick. Super unhelpful and unsympathetic. You won't wanna spend your holiday in such a place where there refuse even simplest things. Breakfast was not fresh, the same cakes can be served for several days despite they are already dried out waiting on the breakfast table. There is an issue with hot water, you need to turn the handle in a very specific way and this was not explained as we arrived, we had to go to reception several times to fit this.

Dark, noisy, humid and no gardenview

We liked the entrance to the reception with all the plants. What attracted us to book here was to have a view of a garden. What was also nice about this place is that it was right at the beach, and you have beachview at breakfast. The breakfast was simple but OK. You have to order the day before.

In booking it said we would have a room in second floor with the view over the backyard/garden (the junior suite). When we arrived we were told that it was not available, and got the room for 3 people which did not live up to the expectations. The view was right into a wall where everyone pass, the neighbor rooms was not hotel rooms, so had some noise from these (from staff and so). We wanted to air out the room, because the bathroom became very humid, and we could not dry any of our clothes and towels for the next day because we had no space outside to hang it. I am pregnant and did not want to leave the windows open for mosquitos, and definitely did not want to leave the windows open while we were not there. The windows inside the bathroom led right into some storage room where the laundry machine was on everyday, so we could not have this open because of the noise. It was a very humid room with smell of sewage from the bathroom (dont hang your clothes in there to dry, they will smell). We both slept very bad in this room. And we also cleaned the filter in the air conditioning which could not have been done in a very very long time (looked like years ago).

Great place to stay

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast. The pousada has beautiful and green common areas. Would definitely stay there again!

I booked the transfer they offered from Rio to Ilha Grande, it was pretty terrible and took around 7 hours and I wasnt expecting that. The transfer to go back to Rio was fine and took around 4 hours.

Great local experience in Ilha Grande

The Pousada is very close to the arrival pier in Vila do Abraao, which is perfect for travelers! The breakfast room as a great view of the beach and at night they also have lights and table outside to drink cocktails and eat great crepes!

The rooms do not see the water, but they are inside the Pousada.

Loved everything about it. The small single bed was still somehow the most comfortable one I had on my whole month in South America! Breakfast was great, staff and advice were great, caiprinhas were excellent, location was perfect. Amazing place!

Great place to enjoy Ilha Grande

The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The breakfast was great. You could see the love and passion the staff put into the whole area of Pousada Tropicana (nice garden area, great variety of flowers and plants, nicely furnished rooms, cozy chill out area, ...).

The personal was very kind and always willing to help!

The room located on the ground floor was very humid and the walls were moldy. To be fair: we travelled during the rainy season. The owner of a guest house should nevertheless take care of mold.

Good location & rooms are clean but not much else to report

The location was great & the maintenance guy was so lovely and helpful, my friend was ill and he advised medicines for her. The rooms were very clean & smelt really nice as you entered. Outside our room there was a cute communal area with hammocks and beautiful tiling.

The wi fi was terrible / breakfast was basic in comparison to other places we have stayed in Brazil & you had to pay extra for an omelette. The beds were super uncomfortable & the electrics were a bit dangerous to say the least. There is an air conditioning unit but it’s from the dark ages and is in need of updating. We also had a few things thrown away by staff that were not rubbish ie medicine and our boat ticket to the mainland

Aniversário de casamento

Passei 6 maravilhosos dias na pousada,onde fui comemorar 30 anos de casado.A pousada por ser frente da praia é um sossego, ao lado de tudo próximo ,do cais ,dos restaurantes. Pousada super limpa,café da manhã excelente, tive a felicidade de ficar no quarto 8 com vista panorâmica. Local maravilhoso,com certeza iremos voltar,com a graça de Deus pai.

A limpeza na praia deixa a desejar ,fala de recipientes pra descarte de reciclagem.O povo é muito porco.Senhores proprietários cobrem da prefeitura a limpeza diária da praia,cuidem desse nosso patrimônio lindo que é Ilha Grande.

Os funcionarios eram simpaticos. Localizacao perfeita.

Comunicacao deixou a desejar. Dias parar responder mensagem. Justificaram ser alta temporada, porém eu reservei em Setembro para ida em Janeiro e desde o inicio o tempo de resposta era bem longo... As instalações não justificam o valor da estadia. O quarto não estava muito limpo.

Propriétaire français très sympa, à l’écoute et de très bons conseils. Très bon petit-déjeuner, complet. Tuba et chaises de plage à disposition. Possibilité de laisser les valises et d’utiliser une douche après le check-out, ce qui est très appréciable. Emplacement idéal, proche de tout. Possibilité de réserver des tours en bateau directement à la réception.

Point d’amélioration possible : ajouter un étendoir pour faire sécher les serviettes de plage et maillots plus facilement.

Ótima localização com bom café da manhã porém precisando de manutenção

A Pousada Tropicana tem como principal ponto positivo a localização excelente. Fica no centrinho de Abraão, na rua beira-mar, muito próxima ao cais e aos restaurantes. Em um destino de calor intenso(fez 40 graus em janeiro/2026), essa comodidade faz muita diferença: não precisar caminhar longas distâncias para comer, passear ou carregar malas na chegada e na saída é, sem dúvida, um grande diferencial. O café da manhã é bom e merece destaque, assim como a funcionária Teka, que, junto de sua cachorrinha Marola, mantinha o ambiente sempre organizado e acolhedor.

A pousada aparenta estar em fase de pouca manutenção e investimento, o que pode estar relacionado ao fato de estar à venda. Para o valor cobrado, a estrutura é bastante simples. A roupa de cama deixou bastante a desejar: lençóis, fronhas e cobertas de poliéster, material desconfortável ao toque e que esquenta muito. Além disso, a roupa de cama era pequena para o tamanho do colchão, ficando constantemente solta, o que tornava impossível se virar durante a noite sem que o lençol saísse completamente, fazendo com que ficássemos deitados diretamente no colchão. Os lençóis também apresentavam manchas, o que causa uma sensação de descuido. O ar-condicionado é do tipo parede, porém instalado próximo ao piso, o que fazia com que o chão ficasse frio, enquanto a parte superior do quarto — especialmente a área da cama — permanecesse quente. Como ponto positivo, o quarto era bem arejado e não havia cheiro de mofo, algo importante em regiões úmidas. Fomos recebidos pela Renata, que foi atenciosa e explicou corretamente a trilha/caminhada até Abraãozinho, além de indicar o Bonito Bar. Contudo, essa indicação acabou sendo frustrante, pois o local possui preços extremamente elevados (pratos a partir de R$150 por pessoa), o que inviabilizou nossa permanência. Além disso, foi informado que o bar ofereceria retorno de táxi boat, porém os funcionários do local disseram que isso nunca ocorreu e que tal cortesia seria apenas para hospedes.

Hermosa la posada, vegetación y arte por todas partes. Desayuno muy completo. Excelente atención Enfrente del mar. Te prestan snorkel y antiparras 🤿, y elementos para la playa como sombrilla y reposeras, lo cual está buenísimo!

De tudo! Desde a recepção, o tratamento dos funcionários com os hóspedes. Do cuidado… dos mimos que tivemos. Como estava muito calor e chegamos cedo, permitiram o check in adiantado. Tivemos a surpresa de ganharmos um espumante e uma deliciosa ceia no dia 31. Disponibilizam cadeiras de praia. O café da manhã, muito bem servido e com uma vista incrível, beira mar. Foi tudo perfeito! Com certeza voltaremos.

Logo quando chegamos na recepção fomos muito bem atendidos, como nossa estadia na pousada foi o réveillon 2025/2026 ganhamos dosi brindes da pousada um champanhe e uma ceia para os hospedis. Os funcionários educados .O café da manhã muito bom sem contar com a limpeza e organização foi uma experiência sensacional.
