Self-catering, with a well equipped kitchen, but the host provides a stock of supermarket-type breakfast items. However, there are two excellent pasticcerias close by, which we also made the most of. Property is opposite one of the entrances to Pompeii site so we could roll up at opening time for a long day! Host was helpful and speaks English; when the kettle stopped working, she replaced it first thing next morning. We also used the train (10-15 mins walk to the FS station, Pompei) to go to Naples, Herculaneum, etc.
As the apartment is at the back of the building, there is no view and it's quite dark, but the price is still a bargain, and Pompeii has plenty of places to eat out. Also, the dishwasher doesn't work.

Spacious, clean, large enough for family of four. Entrance to ruins is 100m away. Plenty of local shops, restaurants, bars in walking distance. Great base to explore the area.
