We been there twice and looking for to stay again April or May 2026.

Nothing all is good

The grounds are beautiful and the two swimming pools looked very inviting but it was cool and very windy on the day we stayed so we didn't get to enjoy them (which was one of the primary reasons for booking).

The signage is extremely easy to mix - we drove by it a couple of times. Our room was quite spartan. It had a nice seating area outside and a very comfortable bed, but it was a small room and a little unexciting decor wise. Unfortunately, our room was located just outside the reception area. On the night we were there, there was a large party in the restaurant area and people leaving (around 11pm) were spending a lot of time in the reception area talking very loudly. The staff had left the door between the reception area and our bedroom door open, which we got out of bed to close, but even with the door closed it was quite noisy which was a little annoying as we had an early flight departure time and couldn't get to sleep. We believe the staff should have asked people to exit quickly. We ate dinner in the restaurant having read it was farm to table. We were disappointed in what we ordered. We were expecting something amazing. The fried pumpkin gnocchi was tough and the portion was small. It was so unmemorable that we can't remember what else we had. Because of our early departure we were given a breakfast box which was also uninspiring. I'm hoping this was a one off experience as we have read other good reviews (one of the reasons we booked).

The property was beautifully designed, with lovely outdoor furniture, plants, etc. The pools were really nice and the garden round the back was also so lovely and tranquil. The food we ate at the restaurant was tasty and we also liked the breakfasts.

We felt the service was quite lacking. We didn’t get much info when we arrived (it would’ve been helpful to know the basics e.g. when breakfast was / how it worked, how to book in for dinner if we wanted to, what food they offered at lunch time, how to get around if we wanted to leave the hotel, etc.). Additionally, it was rare that any of the staff would come over and ask if we wanted refreshments whilst we were sat by the pool, which seems very unusual and meant we were having to get up and find someone to ask. This is fine, but it was often the case that no staff were really around so it was difficult to find someone. Similarly, when we had issues with the room (key card stopped working multiple times + light switch broke), we often found there was no one manning reception (despite being within the claimed opening hours). Again, this meant either having to wait around until someone came back or walking round the hotel trying to find an employee. The room itself was nice, but we were surprised that there was no wardrobe/drawers despite booking one of the garden rooms. This meant we had to live out of our suitcases. There were also 2 cigarette butts in our garden area which were not ours (we don’t smoke). Finally, it was a shame that the restaurant wasn’t a bit more flexible with catering towards vegetarians. There were only a couple of vegetarian main dishes on the menu, so I was rather limited in what I could eat. Most restaurants would typically offer to make something up, even if very simple. We didn’t get that here.
