Beautiful property in heart of beaujolais

Superbly renovated old chateau which the hosts have converted with great style. Very peaceful. Lovely breakfast and pool/garden area. Walking distance (just) to Julienas. Very friendly and hospital hots.

A lovely Chateau surrounded by vineyards

Natalia and Hervé are wonderful hosts! Their chateau is beautiful, with a lovely garden, cozy lounge area around the pool and friendly cats :) Also, the breakfast with a selection of local jams and cheeses was delicious! We absolutely loved it and we want to come back again!

Relaxing & comfortable stay.

Everything. Hervé & Natalia were great hosts. The wine tasting was exceptionally good. The pool is also very good and nice to relax in after a hot sunny day of sightseeing.

Beautiful and enchanting stay... both for the property and its owners!

The warm welcome of the owners, Hervé and Natalya, has been really nice. They were available during our stay without being overwhemingly present. Their story and the story of the castle (and its renovation) is well worth your time, so is Hervé wine tasting (with his own selection of local wines). Special shout out to the decoration and the subtle touches of humour that are spread throughout the property :-). Very nice people in a fantastic location, warmly recommend it!

Exceptional

We were welcomed by the lady of the house in an extremely charming way. The landlord and lady of the house both speaks English. A splendid garden perfectly orientated for sun the whole day, with shadow under the huge pine tree or umbrella's. Public fridge at the pool to store your own drinks or food. Excellent breakfast with some local products. Wine-tasting on demand in the cave of the castle, presented with plenty anecdotes by the landlord. A perfect environment to relax and enjoy the French way of life.

Lovely chateau with stylish accommodation and lovely hosts.

Delightful hosts, lovely welcome. Stylishly decorated large bedroom and bathroom. Pool and poolside facilities were very welcome. Good choice of restaurants within easy walking distance through the vineyards, a good boulangerie in Julienas too.

Arguably one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in (and we've travelled the world)!

The hosts were absolutely lovely, the breakfast was sensational (arguably one of the best we've had), the location was stunning (incl the swimming pool), the facilities were great and the wine tasting was superb!

There were no towels provided in the room for the swimming pool but this was rectified via the lovely hosts.

Lovely accommodation owned by the lovely and kind Hervé and Natalia. We had a wonderful time. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast is really good and the swimming pool and related area is really good for some relaxation.

A wonderful stay; highly relaxing and great fun, especially with Herve's wine tasting.

The Chateau provides a fantastic opportunity to relax and unwind. Our room was lovely, our hosts exceptionally accommodating (with Herve's wine tasting being the highlight) and the breakfast of high quality. The grounds and pool were very much enjoyed.

Fabulous stay with very generous hosts who did their utmost to make us feel welcome.

We had a very relaxing stay at this very charming chateau. Great breakfast every morning, in true French style, croissants, baguettes, cheeses, artisan jams, yogurts, fabulous ham too. They have great coffee and teas. All to be enjoyed with relaxing background music.

Charming chateau in a very pretty part of Beaujolais

We loved the garden. The chateau was delightfully restored and our room was spacious and comfortable. Nathalia and Herve were generous and warm hosts. The drink on arrival was both unexpected and delightfully hospitable . We loved the breakfast with all the local products. I cannot fault both the hospitality and comfort. The property is walking distance into the town of Julieanas. If you like walking there are some great trails around the town that are well signposted. We wished we had longer to enjoy it!

Absolute pleasure of staying here!

It was an absolute pleasure to stay in this charming accommodation. Natalia & Herve are an amazing couple in love with the place and Beaujolais region, and passionate about taking care of their guests. We've been treated like royals, staying in an amazing Fornasetti room, tastefully decorated and overlooking the beautiful garden. Herve was holding an exquisite wine tasting in the cellar and offering to discover his collection, which is an absolute treasure (we ended up ordering some bottles despite some complicated logistics in our case). On a rainy day that we happened to have, Natalia has suggested us visiting the wine museum, which I was first sceptical, but turned out a great experience with very detailed approach to the whole winemaking process, lots of interactive parts of the exhibition letting you understand the Beaujolais region better. We've also got a discount for the tickets from Natalia which was a pleasant bonus. Breakfasts at the chateau is a separate art, being served the artisan jams and cheeses, we felt really spoilt. The place is also very conveniently located at the start of the wine route which you can follow to discover the Beaujolais most prominent crus and get the best out of your visit to the region.

Both hosts were very friendly and made special efforts to accommodate our needs. We had the pleasure to enjoy an excellent wine tasting experience with Hervé, which I warmly recommend to anyone staying at the property.

Good , but we would not return for another stay.

Good breakfast, but we could have used cereal. Saturday there was no cleaning service for our room and the bath tub drain stopper did not work. There was no sitting room, and it was raining so we did not have the yard to use.

Discriminating attitude of hosts

Location and appearance were great.

At the checkin, we were told that our room was out of service, shower was broken. We got a room inside their personal house with no lock on the door and less facilities. The room was definitely a downgrade, when we tried to adres this they were insulted and angry, the hostess walked away and ignored us. Eventually her husband gave us a financial compensation and an excuse. We were happy to move on and have a nice stay. When we shared this with the hostess she said ; we’ll try….. After this, the ignoring and bullying started from their side. When we wanted to reserve the wine tasting the host said that there was a ‘private group’ and he did not know if we could join. He was waiting for a call and would let us know if we could join. He remained vague and never came back on it. Six hours later the tour started at the reception and every hotel guest joined the tasting. I was there but was again completely ignored and didn’t even get a wine glas. After this we walked away, the next morning we addressed our feelings. No compassion or understanding from their side and total denial. The Chateau is great but the hosts can improve their narrow minded attitudes.

Great hosts, stunning location & building.

The property is in a stunning location - beautiful grounds and is an historic building. Herve & Nathalia have done a wonderful job of renovating with comfortable rooms and a nice dining area for breakfast. For evening food the area is well served by many great restaurants - the food locally was excellent. Our particular favourite was un Passage au Chateau! Herve knows his wine and has curated an interesting list of wines for the wine tasting (not to be missed) and also to buy at producer price. We met some lovely guests too at the property who we hope to stay in contact with! We will hopefully be back next year!!

Chateau des Janroux is amazing, it has a perfect location in between the beaujolais. The hosts have the best idea over the area, with the latest discovery’s of wine, jam, honey and restaurants! A small tip, Herve does a very good wine tasting, this is a must do when you are staying at the Chateau

Exceptional

Hervé and Nathalie are wonderful hosts and we felt more than welcome in chateau Janroux! They helped us with bookings for fantastic restaurants and they organise great wine tastings. Be sure to enjoy them during your stay! The chateau was recently renovated so the rooms are brand new. Decorated with great taste to complete the experience. It is situated at the edge of Julienas, within walking distance of the centre. It is easy to reach and in the middle of the Beaujolais area. We think it’s the best place to have a complete experience in the Beaujolais. There a great chateaus in the area where you can taste and buy wines, and also have a good restaurant. Every morning they are caring for fresh bread and croissants. Also they have award winning jams from the neighbourhood. We are definitely coming back in the future.
