The Shepherd's Hut at Accott Manor offers couples (and their dog) a rather unique romantic getaway set in a stunning and tranquil rural location, not far from Barnstaple in North Devon, but with it's well known coast, Exmoor National Park and many popular local attractions all within easy reach.
One of four self catering properties at Accott Manor, The Shepherd's Shed has been purposefully set apart from the other cottages making it the ideal retreat for couples looking for a romantic relaxing getaway together. Inside, The Shepherd's Shed offers high quality self catering accommodation in a rather unique and quirky way. An open plan space oozes plenty of character and charm throughout. There is a compact kitchen, with a small cooker and hob, fridge and sink, whilst a wood-burner stove provides the heating but a great place to boil the kettle. A breakfast bar and high stools provides a great place to grab a quick meal or breakfast. Then, at the back of the shed, there is a double bed and a wall-mounted TV. Outside, there is a separate purpose built fitted shower room.
Behind the shed, guests will discover a separate covered sink and a gas BBQ, a great space for preparing meals outside. There is also an outdoor seating area covered by awning. And finally, the real added luxury for couples looking for a relaxing getaway is the wood fired hot tub. Guests have exclusive use, and can enjoy the spectacular views, sunsets or starlit skies.
Onsite, the guests are welcome to use the communal games room (please note: Covid rules will apply).

My girlfriend, our dog, and I had a lovely stay in the Shepherd’s Shed. The views from both the shed and the balcony were amazing, and the cozy hot tub was perfect for the cold November nights. Once we got it up to temperature, it stayed hot for ages, so we even enjoyed a couple of morning dips!
The Shepherd’s Shed is in the perfect location for exploring North Devon!! we went on some great walks and also enjoyed plenty of peace and quiet, which was exactly what we needed after a busy few months. The games room was good fun too, even though we didn’t spend much time there.
Overall, it’s an excellent and beautifully located place. We’d definitely love to visit again in the summer to make use of the barbecue and enjoy evenings outside under the gazebo with the fire pit.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is remote but excellent for chilling, relaxing and unwinding. We were left alone but help was on hand if we needed anything. Would definitely return!

We had the most peaceful and relaxing stay at this beautiful shepherd’s hut just outside Barnstaple. Tucked away in the Devon countryside, it offered the perfect escape from everyday life.
The views across the open fields were absolutely stunning, and we especially loved watching the cows roam freely in the field right in front of the hut – it was such a calming experience. The hut itself was cosy and well-equipped with everything we needed.
The hot tub was a real highlight – soaking in the warm water under the stars, surrounded by nature, was just magical. It’s quiet, private, and the ideal spot to truly unwind.
If you're looking for peace, privacy, and beautiful rural views, this place is a real gem. We left feeling completely refreshed and we will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

Perfect little hide away, amazing views of the countryside. Cosy Shepherds Shed with everything you need, hot tub was a bonus, we really enjoyed sitting around the fire in the evenings. The hosts were great.
