Cool Little JT Getaway Home

This place was really nice for a little weekend getaway. Positive point was the location, very central to the main street in Joshua Tree and from the entrance of the parc. There are a few restaurants and bars as well as stores located near by. We loved that we had a nice backyard with hammocks, fire pit, washer and drier and everything needed inside the house. The game room had fun games to spend some time. Parking is super convenient with a gate that can be closed. It is a great place to stay with family and friends with 3 bedrooms and 5 beds. The AC was amazing in every room and absolutely quiet, which is a really good point considering the heat in JT. The entire house has hardwood floor, which is great and bathroom had nice tiles.

While these following details did not really affect our trip too much, here are some suggestions that should be considered by the owner: - Blinds or darkening curtains; this was an issue in every room. While the current curtains are cute, they are absolutely just there for decoration. Starting 5.30 am when the sunlight comes in, the rooms became so bright that it was hard to sleep. This is also an issue on the bunk-bed bedroom door that accesses the patio. There is no curtains at all and impossible to sleep once the light enters the room - Couch: while the current couch is not too bad, this house can accommodate 7 people and there is definitely not enough space to all sit comfortably. There is more than enough space to add another couch and maybe get ride of the single sofa chair. - Paper towels/toilet paper/soap: we ran out of paper towels, toiler paper and body soap. We contacted the owner and the issue was resolved pretty quickly, but a stock of these things could be something to think about. Also, the soap we received afterwards were soap bars instead of liquid ones, which was a problem as we were 6 and did not all want to share a soap bar. - Outside cameras: This was a big issue for us and we did not appreciate not being aware of cameras in the backyard. We were informed of a Ring door bell with camera at the door entrance but that was it. While I do understand that the owner might need to check on the property, we felt constantly observed with the cameras in the backyard. Not to mention that one of the cameras was next to the shower window, and while not pointing directly at it, we still had to verify so we could take our showers with the window open (to avoid condensation) without feeling like someone was watching us. This needs to be disclosed properly. The fact that people rent private homes, is to feel like home. And while we had nothing to hide, we did not appreciate having cameras pointing at us, at our activities and conversations.

i don’t think i should have to do a list of chores before i check out since i am paying a cleaning fee. the house wasn’t super clean to begin with and then i am stripping beds, dishes etc. why am I paying a cleaning charge then? i don’t think there was TV there was roku but couldn’t watch anything that was weird. we couldn’t figure out the Heaters and i think the solution could have been labeled and done. instead of back and forth and having to read the manual.
