ALONAKI BAY

Our room was clean and pleasant, with comfortable beds and a nice selection of available coffee/snacks. The staff was pleasant and responsive. We enjoyed the small, clean beach and lovely, warm sea.

Although there was a restaurant onsite, we found the food to be mid to low quality for the price charged and size of portion. It didn’t help that the property was relatively isolated and there was not a lot of other choice.

Simple but everything you need

No breakfast included, but the restaurant was open from approx 9a.m. We used the restaurant regularly for afternoon or evening meal. Local dishes cooked in local style were very good.. Restaurant is outdoors, but with protection from sun and wind, overlooking the beach. Aloniki Bay was fine for us, quite remote but don't let the narrow roads and poor signage put you off....just drive carefully! Own car or hired car absolutely essential. For first-time visitors it is ESSENTIAL to check maps and write down carefully exactly where your turn-offs are, particularly when you have left the main Corfu Town - Messongi road. After leaving the "main" road, the turn-offs are not always easy to find on the first visit, although we soon got used to them. DO NOT MAKE YOUR FIRST TRIP TO THE ACCOMMODATION IN THE DARK!!!!! But DON'T let the access put you off this property unless you are looking for a Benidorm-type location. The staff all speak perfect English and are very happy to discuss their menus and advise about where to visit on the island. The nearest village with facilities is Agios Georgios, not too touristy but with a choice of bars,restaurants and shops which are locally owned. There's a nearer, totally Greek, village at Agios Mattheos whereyou can immerse yourself in local Greek culture...tiny local cafes/bars/shops. Narrow streeets and very difficult parking...but that's local Corfu. We loved our visit here, although the local small inter-village roads on the west of the island can be difficult to drive on. Would we stay here again?........A definite "yes", but it may not be suitable for everyone. Like many places in rural Greece, it's the friendliness of the staff which stands out.

Driving on the narrow twisty roads on the west side of the island, especially on our one rainy day, But the roads in the north of the island, a much richer part of Corfu, are better. The "beach" at Alonaki was not at all attractive, but Ag Giorg was easy to get to.

THE place is ok, but they should clean more often because when i come was dirty.THE TAVERNA IS FAIR BUT NOTHING SPECIAL JUST I'LL leave it at THAT.The personel is at best tired and bored at all the times, i got the feeling that they are depress and dont want to be there.....but maybe this is my opinion, who knows?THE BEST WORKER FOM THE PERSONEL ITS THE OLD MAN THE GRANDAD....A BIG THANK YOU, ONLY TO YOU
