About this farm stay rental

This cozy 1 bedroom 1 bath cottage was built in 1870 by William Butler Garrett then down to his great grandson, Dr. William E. Mitchel. The property was restored as originally built, log by log, by Garrett's great-great granddaughter & family. Logs were marked & moved & restored for the front room, exactly as it stood in 1870, adding the modern amenities.

Open floor plan front room features the living room with fireplace (available beginning Sept 15) & full furnished kitchen. Decorated in farmhouse fashion with the modern amenities for todays guests. Large bedroom has a queen bed. Full bath with tub/shower combination.

Nice large yard with firepit & picnic area overlooking a gorgeous farm setting surrounded by the mountains. The covered porch is the perfect place to take in the beauty of the area.

Close to downtown Bryson City while still being in a private setting with easy access. Perfect for a couples getaway.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I really enjoyed my stay at the Mitchell Cabin. The location is fantastic for exploring Bryson City and the Great Smoky Mountains. The cabin was easy to find and is across the road from the owners goat farm. There is a grocery store about 10 minutes away. I came to hike and found several amazing trails of various difficulty, all within a 30 minute drive. The cabin is very clean, has wifi and modern appliances, is historical and decorated nicely. You can tell how much love went into the renovation of this family cabin. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had plenty of pressure and hot water. Although there was a nice fire pit out back, I didn't get to use it because of rain. My only complaint is that the wood burning fireplace has been replaced with a gas fireplace. Although there were no instructions on how to start it, I called Yellow Rose and the owners came over and showed me immediately. I enjoyed getting to meet them and get some more history on the cabin. Great customer service. The big downside is that the new gas fireplace heats up the house so much in such a short amount of time, that you almost can't even use it. I would have preferred the original wood burning fireplace, but understand why the owners would want to change it. Overall this was a fantastic stay and I highly recommend staying here!
