It is an uncut gem of a hotel. Location is great, the breakfast cards for bar grande, perfect. It is clean and the beds were comfy enough. The manager was friendly & responsive, and our stay was pretty good despite power outages in the area. But, there were some simple things that could be done for very minimal cost that would make the room WAY WAY WAY more travel friendly and some small touches that would go a long way to making this gem into a jewel.
While our stay was good, here are some things from a seasoned travelers perspective that would have made our stay there a 10/10.
1. HOOKS!!! there is no where to hang towels except on a non functioning heated towel rack that is only accessible by straddling a bidet while trying not to knock over a giant vase of faux flowers. PLEASE put some hooks on either side of the shower walls for towels, wet swimsuits, to hang stuff, they are very very needed in this space, as well as a few in the actual bathroom for hand towels.
2. Blackout shades. It is beyond bright in that room, which was only accentuated when the power went out and it would be completely black. the current curtain is very hard to move on the curtain rod, it snags and is just nearly impossible to close, and if you do close it, it is too long and covers the very necessary in the summer AC vent so it is either being cool with AC or having a lot of light in the room. Black out shade - even a simple roller one would be so helpful.
3. An FAQ available as a pdf with your booking on best ways to get there, and restaurant suggestions etc. While he tells you some of this when you check in, it would be so much better to have ahead of time or to refer back to instead of verbally. Also we took the train to Privera Fossanova instead of Monte S. Biagio which from what I read was fine to do but a local would know that the Monte S. Biagio station had way more busses and was substantially easier to get to and from than the other, so a little FAQ of some local things like that would be super helpful for non Italians.
4. Get the giant vase of faux flowers out of the bathroom. Its gross. Everyone knows particles fly up from even closed toilets so having a 4 foot tall faux flower arrangement a few feet from the toilet is just gross. Please maybe think about removing it and instead put in a small set of shelves for clean towels, (bonus if you provided some beach sheets) but mainly as a place for travelers to put their stuff.
