My husband and spent 3 nights here in September and loved it. We are in our 50's, new to Indiana, and wanted a quiet location on the water to relax, fish, and enjoy the scenery. This did not disappoint! Owner John is easy to communicate with and check-in was seamless. The caretaker Greg lives nearby and does a great job making you feel welcome but also giving total privacy. The home is really well stocked, clean, comfortable, and perfectly decorated for the location. The kitchen is large and they have thought of everything you might need. It is a bright cheery open living room/kitchen looking out onto the lake. The screened in porch is perfect for morning coffee and helps protect from the bugs at night. The lake is very small but that was a plus to us and part of the charm. We opted to rent the pontoon boat and have no regrets. We had no luck fishing (although the lake is crystal clear and you can see the fish and turtles everywhere) but really enjoyed going out early to watch the sunrise and watching the sunset from the boat. It is absolutely beautiful!! I love to swim and lounge in water, so I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't just jump off the dock to cool off. There are a lot of lily pads and pond plants surrounding the dock and it's very shallow making swimming and/or fishing difficult. The yard is beautiful though and there is comfortable seating all over this property. We are already planning a winter trip. A beautiful oasis right in the middle of cornfields!

The property was beautiful, the pictures don’t do it justice! The house was clean and well stocked. Greg was very helpful with the pontoon and took us on a ride around the lake before giving us the keys. The screened in porch was perfect to relax in at night while keeping the bugs away. Would definitely recommend this place!

What a peaceful and fun filled experience. The cottage is great - roomy and comfortable with everything you could possibly want. Outdoors even better - lake is awesome! We rented the pontoon and spent a lot of time on the water. Went fishing and swimming and took the kayaks out every morning to a glass like lake. Lunch on the lake and evening sunset cruises after grilling out. Private lake - basically had the place to ourselves. You’ll never want to leave.

This wonderful cottage was so pretty and comfortable. The screened in porch was nice at night. My husband and I were there for a week, and we were the only ones on the lake almost every day. We loved watching the fish and the turtles at the end of the pier. The lake is small, so there is no skiing or fast boating, but if you want a peaceful, relaxing place, this is it!

My husband and I and our two adult daughters enjoyed our stay at Bellevue Cottage. It was so peaceful and quiet! The cottage is clean and comfortable. We enjoyed time on the water—fishing and relaxing one day in the pontoon and taking the kayaks out several times. We also took day trips to Shipshewana and Winona Lake. We loved the space and the relaxation it provided for our special family time together.

Everything was great, one problem though: the dog. There was no place to walk or run or even feel free in a back yard but even it would not be on a leash there is no security for a pet. Also since we have a sail boat, Loon lake would be better for us. So if you can move your beautiful cottage there, we would be your permanent customers.

We appreciated the boat launch along the home. It sure made carrying the canoe to the lake much easier. That was a pleasant surprise! The furniture and beds were very comfortable. The home is equipped with lots of wonderful extra special touches that made our stay even more special! The large refrigerated water filter was a huge hit with us. We also appreciated the "lily pad," we had a great time lounging on it during a soft rain one morning! The lake was perfect to canoe and Kayak! Great time was had by all! Definitely recommend staying here. Greg was an added bonus, he was very helpful and fun to chat with!

To say the least the house was amazingly clean, and looked exactly like how it is portrayed in the photos. It was beautifully decorated. Literally every amenity that could be expected in your home was there, so we wanted for nothing. We ended up going at a time when the weather was oddly cold in summer, and the lily pads were in abundance but that didn't deter us because we thoroughly enjoyed kayaking, renting the pontoon and fishing out in the lake. Be sure to sign the guest book-I enjoyed reading everyone's notes, and seeing how far everyone had travelled to come to the house. We will definitely be back next year!!! Oh ...and thanks to Greg and John !

We had a wonderful stay this past Memorial Day weekend. The house was clean, comfortable and perfectly appointed. The cabin was stocked with all of the little extras that really made the difference. John was very easy to reach and Greg the neighbor was so kind and helpful (Greg rents the pontoon). The bed was comfortable and the cabin has everything you could think of. We spent the day cruising around on the pontoon boat and took the kayaks out a few times as well. The lake is quiet and relaxed. We already booked our next stay. We can’t wait to return.

This lake cottage was above and beyond what anyone usually expects. Fresh, clean, charming. I can only assume the owner spent the night to see what anyone could possible want. Everything and more was there. There was no running to the store. That’s really the least of it though. The main bed is actually adjustable and king sized. Every view: soothing and beautiful. It looked like a professional interior decorator chose the fine finishes. I’ll go back and I hope you give it a try. You will not be sorry. Stress level: 0. Tranquility level: 10!

This was our second stay and it was even better than the first! The location is beautiful. The cottage is amazing. It's exceptionally clean, well stocked, and pet friendly. We had ZERO issues or complaints about anything. Communication with the owner and property caretaker was excellent. We enjoyed watching fish and several varieties of turtles from the dock along with the many birds visiting the feeder off the porch. Pontooning around the lake and fishing in the early morning and evening was peaceful. It's a small lake surrounded by full time residents. All of the neighbors we met around the lake are super friendly and eager to share fishing tips. If you're looking for a tranquil location off the beaten path, this is it. One note about the dog next door: The gracious host posts signs about keeping your own dogs leashed. This does not mean the dog next door is overly aggressive. He's a good dog simply doing his job if he barks at strangers. If you allow your pet off leash and it approaches the neighbor dog or runs onto his property, the neighbor dog is going to react like a dog protecting his home - no surprise there and would earn him a treat or two at my house! He was not at all bothered by our dog even when our dog barked at him! But, our dog was securely leashed on the far side of the yard away from the neighbor dog. Maintain boundaries, keep your dogs leashed, and be respectful of the fact that neighbor dog is at his home while your dog is the guest and you won't have any problems. We'll definitely be back the first opportunity we have!

This place is wonderful! We enjoyed ourselves every minute. Although it is listed as under 1,000 square feet, it feels much bigger and is laid out very nicely. The beds are COMFORTABLE - what?? They are! The "master" bedroom is king size although not advertised as so. Both bedrooms have a beautiful view of the lake. Every morning looked like the picture, with the steam rolling off the lake due to the cool evenings we had. The bathroom is large and modern, towels are plentiful and NICE, everything is just quality. They had extra shampoo/conditioner for use, even different kinds for different hair! All the toiletries were supplied, plenty of toilet paper and paper towels. There is a nice washer and dryer if needed. So now, the kitchen...again quality. Quality dishes, even supplying a set of beautiful ceramic colorful dishes. Very trusting considering people are renting, I hope nobody ruins it for them, because they do put a lot of trust in their renters. The supplies that were available were unbelievable. All the condiments you need, including mayonnaise. I'm not sure they would always advertise that they supply this, but the refrigerator was packed full of "essentials". They even had all the fixins for s'mores! Honeymaid Graham Crackers, no store brand stuff (like I usually buy!) The minced garlic was brand new in the fridge! Many cans of essentials as well in the cupboard, in case you don't have, like diced tomatoes, etc. Again, I'm sure they don't advertise that they would always have these things but it sure made you feel like they trusted you and valued you! The manager of the property, Greg, lives just a couple houses away and is so friendly and helpful, right there for any need you might have. He provided the large float without us even asking, which is nice because the lake is weedy and although there is a beach, it quickly becomes mushy, The lake is very laid back, mostly fisherman, but not many, very relaxing for an evening cruise (we had our own boat, but you can rent either a pontoon or something else, not sure what it was.). There are two kayaks available for use and we loved going out and having complete silence and beautiful scenery. Very relaxing. The 3 season room was wonderful. A nice comfortable couch and a 2-person table and chairs. There is also a clothes line there, but you have to look close. It pulls out of the wall. Thank you John, Belle, and Greg! We'll be back!

Great property. Recently renovated so the inside is really nice. Great kitchen with nice appliances, nice bathroom with big shower. Large master bedroom with a very comfortable bed. Normally there is central AC but a big storm the week before our stay had zapped the AC. John took the time to install a number of window air conditioners that cooled the house nicely even with 90 degree weather. New lake is really lovely and we enjoyed driving the pontoon boat. Fishing is good and I lost the fish of a lifetime the first night were were there. My wife enjoyed parking the boat in deeper water to swim. If you are looking for an updated cottage on a nice quiet lake, Belle cottage is highly recommended.

We chose this location for a family getaway for 3 generations of our family spanning ages 16-68, plus one of the family dogs. Pictures of the listing didn’t begin to do it justice. The area was so quiet and clean. The house was beautiful and very thoroughly stocked. We used the kayaks and rented the pontoon boat for a day. The property manager came and gave us a tour of the lake with what to look for. The lake was very smooth with little traffic and was perfect for the kayaks. I just can’t say enough good things about our experience, and we are already talking about coming back and staying longer!

I could not have found a better lake cottage for me and my brother to relax. We are both in our 70s. All you need to bring is food and change of clothes. It is a small lake with no speed boats and that I really liked. The cottage is very nice with a screened in porch. It has a large refridgerator, a nice oven and a washer and dryer. If I owned a lake cottage, this would be perfect. The caretaker is nearby if there are any issues. He helped us launch my grandsons boat. Again this cottage and lake setting is perfect.

The house is so beautiful and packed for of extra amenities. Then screened in patio great view to wake up and have a cup of coffee or sit down for a glass of wine at night. The fish were tiny but even a bad day of fishing on the lake is better than any day at work! It's a great place to just get away and relax.

The house was clean and looked very nice when we arrived. We enjoyed the screened porch. The master bedroom was large and had an entrance to the shared bathroom. The bed was soft for our taste, and there were plenty of pillows and linens. The second bedroom is on the small side. We weren’t aware that the house uses well water. The kitchen sink water was smelly. A filtered pitcher was provided for drinking water. This had to be filled multiple times a day, to use for ice trays, coffee, and drinking. We suggest bringing a large bag of ice. The shower, washer, dishwasher appear connected to the water softener. No smell was noticeable in the shower or bathroom sink. The pictures on the site are accurate but do leave out a couple of eyesores. To the right of the property about 2 doors down is a dock sorely in need of repair. To the left is the end of the lake with typical overgrowth. We arrived on a Sunday. Monday afternoon we noticed that the AC was not keeping up. It wasn’t unbearable, and we assumed that it was an old system. Tuesday afternoon it was getting pretty warm in the house, and by 8pm we knew there was a problem. We started calling and messaging the owner to tell him about it and after 2 hours of no response, we contacted VRBO. We waited 30 minutes on hold. VRBO had us take a video of the problem. They tried to contact the owner with no response including using an additional number we didn’t have. VRBO was ultimately no help. After 3 hours we gave up and went to a hotel. We were contacted the next morning around 7 by the owner. He apologized for missing the call saying he was sleeping and couldn’t hear the phone. He managed to get the AC running and arranged for a HVAC tech to come and investigate the issue. The AC quit again later that night. We were able to get by with fans and open windows since the temperature had dropped some. We contacted the owner again who arranged to have a tech return the next day. The tech returned, made additional adjustments. He said the unit needed replaced. A few hours later the AC failed again and again the owner was contacted. A tech was sent for the 3rd time and said the unit was dead. We managed to finish our last day with fans and open windows again due to the cooler weather. When we left Friday morning, we were informed the unit was going to be replaced. The owner did agree to pay for the hotel bill and apologized. That was the extent of any consideration for our time and trouble.

The house is so beautiful and cozy. We went for a short stay and enjoyed the stunning lake views from the bedroom to the kitchen/living room area. Very relaxing and quiet stay. Great sunrise views looking over the water. The hosts have thought of every little detail. Coffee bar (keurig k cups); comfortable bed and plenty of extra blankets. Lots of paper products, extra spices and cooking oil, condiments. The natural light and lake views are incredible.

Beautiful area - luxury accommodations. Large bright kitchen, upscale bath, separate Keurig coffee station, comfy bed, smart tvs, views, views, views! The lake is beautiful. Hubby had fun chatting with the local ice fishermen. Property has EVERYTHING you need for a relaxing worry free stay. Stores are conveniently close. Screened in porch is a nice bonus. We will be back!

What a charming delightful place. I got a pretty good rate probably because it's winter and it's the off season. It worked out for me because I had never seen a frozen lake before. Walking to the middle of the lake and seeing these other guys ice fishing was a unique experience for my family. I can't wait to return in the summer and get my fishing and boating on. Also, you know you have thoughtful hosts when you find all kinds of knick knacks around the house. Condiments in the fridge, herbs and spices in the kitchen, firewood in the backyard. Just a delightful experience.
