Retiro do Gerês

Retiro do Geres is a truly amazing place. It combines the calmness and beaty of the mountains with high quality service, food and accomodation. The personal is friendly and varm and makes you feel right at home. The breakfast is overwhelming. The restaurant is brilliant. The pool and sauna is beatiful. We had a great great time with our kids here for 3 nights while taking smaller hikes in the area around the village fafiao - and we hope to come back again.

The location was fantastic - the view from that window was out of this world and the nearby walk to the miradouro gives even better ones. The dorm was modern, comfortable and really good bathroom with good water pressure. The best for me though was the food, everything I had was absolutely delicious and portions were gigantic (definitely the biggest piece of octopus I've ever had !). The staff was all really nice and welcoming and one of them also spoke french which made communication easier. Appreciated the private parking as well. Pool was not in order, as expected in the winter, but it also looked great (and with a view...) Photo is the view from.the window.

Just to nitpick but not much insonorisation. First night was nice and quiet but when the hotel filled up I could hear everything in the next rooms and corridor so could get a bit noisy in the summer.

Everything! The food is amazing, the staff are awesome and so friendly and helpful, the room was so clean, everything smelled like new and fresh. I admire the hostel it was really really good! Definitely return here again!!!! Hopefully more than once.

Honestly, it's in all hotels in Portugal but the bed is so stiff..

Loved the stay! The hotel is situated in the middle of the hills, in the national park, which makes it a perfect spot for relaxation and trips to nature - hiking, waterfalls, rivers, dips in the refreshing springs. Or you can just chill by the pool, looking at the view over the valley. Be sure to try out the restaurant, they cook amazingly and the overall service was very nice.
